New Age Affinity

  • 11/25/23: Traditional affinity has long fallen out of favor due to its lack of engines. There was a slight resurgence after MH2 when Urza's Saga and Thought Monitor were printed as they offered a ton of resources and advantage, but weren't enough to make the deck competitive. The printing of Up the Beanstalk has changed this because of how well affinity cards synergized with it, forcing the archetype to splash green for the card draw engine. This is the list I have come up with for it.
  • 12/4/24: Up the Beanstalk is banned before I get a chance to try out the deck. Affinity never really had much chance to showcase this card.
  • 4/23/24: Thanks to Outlaws at Thunder Junction, two new engines have been printed that work in Affinity; Satoru, the Infiltrator and Simulacrum Synthesizer. Satoru offers a card draw engine similar to the now-banned Beanstalk, while the Synthesizer offers a construct engine that can take over the game. The issue with Satoru is that he is difficult to fit into a mostly colorless deck, so I will not be adding him just yet. The Synthesizer will become stock in Affinity, so my first draft will focus on it. Since the Beanstalk days, the deck list has been overhauled, so not bothering to explain changes.
  • 5/23/24: With MH3 comes Kappa Cannoneer, which is a perfect addition to the deck. Since Synthesizer is the focal point of the deck, Kappa will replace the 4xHalo Hopper meant to support Satoru, the Infiltrator which has shown to not be an affinity card. For that reason, the Spire of Industrys will be replaced by Islands.
  • 5/23/24: Considering whether the 4xSojourner's Companion should be replaced by the new Frogmyr Enforcer from MH3. The problem with the card is that this deck doesnt really want to produce red mana. Also going to add a Fomori Vault over the Treasure Vault since destructible artifact lands are about to become a liability with Meltdown
