Aether Revolt Update —Jan. 26, 2017
Sorry for the delay in getting this update out. Life happens and I've been dealing with some issues with my house, so it's been occupying all my time and mental energy.
But, now I have gotten some time to go through the deck and see what I can take out and what I can put in. These updates have *NOT* been tested yet, and are basically "theorycrafting" per say. Hopefully these changes will make the deck better, or at the very least, more fun for us. So, let us get on with the changes.
OUT:
IN:
- Fellwar Stone
- Heart of Kiran
- Paradox Engine
- Pia's Revolution
- Planar Bridge
- Scrap Trawler
- The Chain Veil
I decided to try something a little different with these updates. Instead of hiding behind Stax effects to protect Daretti, I wanted to try and make it a little more explosive. So I took out the Orbs/Omens synergy as well as Arbiter in order to make room for some new stuff. Gauntlet was removed as we really don't need the extra mana when we run a bunch of rocks, and can also weld back our bigger stuff. I haven't needed Recoup in a long time, so that was a safe cut. Fire Diamond was a safe cut since we don't really want our rocks to come in tapped and unable to be used until next turn.
Fellwar is back in as it is a rock that comes into play untapped, and can possibly make red if we need (if someone can produce red). Chain Veil is also back in and will hopefully synergize well with Paradox. As far as Paradox goes, I'm not too sure it's a good fit in here yet, as our deck isn't built to abuse it like some other decks, but being able to reuse Veil, Bridge, and other effects may prove to be useful. Planar Bridge is another one I'm not too sure on yet. We can grab any permanent and put it directly into play, which could prove vital for when we are in a pinch, or when we need a combo piece. We can abuse its effect with Paradox and enough rocks/spells to put a bunch of things into play, or infinite mana plus Rings/Key to do the same, but get all of our permanents. Heart of Kiran can make for a decent blocker and can be crewed with Daretti in a pinch. Pia's Revolution is like a mini Combustible so synergizes very well with the deck. Trawler is a better Junk Diver/Myr Retriever as it works with all of our artifacts.
Ainiv: I forgot to add Homeward Path to my list of changes. Thanks for pointing that out! I've got an altered one on its way here.
What changes were unexpected for you?

Awe!! When I saw Kaladesh update, I was sure some Masterpieces were going in lol. Now I actually have to look at the changes!!

iAzire: I'm physically missing only three (Crucible, Greaves, and Opal). The Inventions are not all uploaded here so they aren't reflected.

Why did you take out The Chain Veil it's been pretty nice for me because I can slip it in when daretti is at 9 to ult him.

Oh nice, I still have to look at your changes.
This deck is a Masterpiece lol.
October 13, 2016 7:06 p.m.
iAzire: Thanks! I appreciate you saying that!
HideyoshiYaoi: I've ran it before, as well as High Market. I didn't use either of them that much as far as their activated abilities go, so I cut them for other lands. They are definitely great to run in here, and may go back in some day, I just don't know when yet.

This most recent friday, I went out with my own Daretti build, and ult Daretti early with The Chain Veil, then Mirrorpool my Hellkite Tyrant and kill 2 opponents. Then I come home and see you've cut all 3 of them. They are amazing in my build, so I'm wondering why you cut them.

Hey there, aspiring Daretti player here. I was wondering if you had already tested two card choices, Ghirapur AEther Grid and Jokulhaups in the past. I was thinking about running them, to have an extra tap engine for the 'if untapped' artifacts and to help get to the emblem, respectively. I see of course that you aren't running them, but just wanted to know, have you in the past, and the cards just not proven to be good enough?
October 19, 2016 12:39 p.m.
RazortoothMtg: It basically came down to making room for newer cards, and what I was willing to cut. Mirrorpool basically because it enters tapped so it slows us down a turn. The Chain Veil because it only has use if you have a Planeswalker out; otherwise it just sits in your hand/graveyard/battlefield doing nothing. Hellkite Igniter because he's not so easily recurrable.
They're all fine cards to have, and by no means take my list as gospel. Play what you like. This is merely a guide to my list and what I play.
bulletmonkey97: Jokulhaups and other MLD cards are better suited for the Stax version, of which I am not a fan of. Ghirapur AEther Grid could be good, but I've never tried it myself.

Guerte In my last few days of trying it out, it seems alright, it's just a worse Clock of Omens, but i can't find any other good tap engines to keep the blinkmoth urn, static orb, and winter orb's effects inactive when I don't want them
October 23, 2016 11:42 a.m.
bulletmonkey97: Clock of Omens is the only thing I use to tap my stuff. Blinkmoth Urn I'm not too worried about tapping as I will usually get the most benefit out of it. The Orbs I usually don't play until I have a way to get Clock out, but will still play them if I need to slow people down.

So what are your thoughts on the new Inquisitor's Flail? The pump bonus is pointless for the most part, but a Grand Abolisher could be useful if your meta plays counterspells...
October 26, 2016 3:55 p.m.
RazortoothMtg: While it could be a good inclusion, I feel like it would be better suited for a deck that utilizes a Voltron approach, or at least runs more creatures than we do.
If anything, I'd run Price of Glory or Defense Grid instead to help deter players from countering our stuff.

I've played Daretti, Scrap Savant for a while now, and I love both the deck and this primer. Thanks for all the work you've put into it.
I have to admit I was dubious about Quicksmith Genius - seemed underwhelming. After playtesting a few times, I now recognize the dude as the boss he is. Seriously. If you're not playing it, you're doing Daretti wrong. Things get crazy bonkers when Alhammarret's Archive is out. Thanks so much for the idea.
On deterring counters, I'm sure you've considered Null Brooch - counters non-creatures and allows you to pitch your hand for Daretti fodder. I've used both Defense Grid and Null Brooch, but tend to favor the the latter even though you can sometimes get Grid in early underneath counterspells. If you have any thoughts here, I'm all ears.
Thanks, again, for the primer and for the ideas.

tombrad: Quicksmith Genius is probably one of my new favorite cards for the deck. I just love how he acts as a possible optional Daretti. They really are BFFs. Lol.
I'm really not too worried about counters. We can recur our artifacts, or use Recoup if they countered something else we needed. I dislike Null Brooch as it makes Daretti's +2 much worse.
Thanks for liking and taking the time to read/comment!

After Aether Revolt drops and you pimp this bad boy further, can we expect an updated video on this sexy mofo? :D CMDR decks may be down but, you can put it on your personal channel.

SnowCoveredPlainswalker: I was planning on resubmitting to CMDR on the one year anniversary of the first video. But since there's no telling when they'll be back I surely can make my own!

Cool list. Quick question, why no Magus of the Moon?
December 30, 2016 11:33 p.m.
p0megranates: Thanks. The reason I don't run the Magus is more or less because it's a creature and easier to remove. That and I don't want to run too many Stax-like effects.

Hey bossman, I'm going to get one of the more expensive cards, maybe multiple depending on prices that I can find them at, for this deck. What do you recommend?? Should I just go for the Mishra's Workshop or should I get a few of the other ones?? That's pretty much all I'm missing for this build minus my tweaks. :P

Neato! I am also making a Kaladesh update to my Daretti. =) Some of these changes for your deck were pretty unexpected. You getting Homeward Path at some point?
