I want to try out a small time legacy event at my LGS, and I would like to use this. If there are any legacy players around, would you tell me if this is decent enough to play in legacy? I don't need to be über competitive, but I want to at least win a few games.

I'd look into Fog Bank to deal with creatures that can't be countered, have vigilance, or if your opponent lucks out and gets a Heliod, God of the Sun out on you. Never hurts to have a back-up plan. Also look into Vapor Snag to remove early game threats and get quick damage in. Aside from that I can't think of anything in the 2 cmc range that would really help you.

I'm friends with twospires.

This is my kinda deck. I love Annoying people take a look at my two control decks Perpetual Control (S:2 U:9 P:7 $38) & Control, Annoy, Repeat (S:2 U:7 P:6 $45) let me know what you think.

I would recommend 4 Stalkers & 4 Counterspell because you mana base is almost all U. take out a Memory Lapse and the Feldon's Cane , I don't get that one.

But I love the idea. Another card people use is Boomerang type cards I really like Into the Roil to bounce Stasis just before your turn to allow all your stuff to untap, but I don't know what to take out to add it.

+1 from me.

I am considering taking out Memory Lapse for either Spellskite or Fog Bank , thoughts?

@Zer0w Thanks for the feedback! Feldon's Cane saves me from mill-killing myself! Very important as games frequently last 30+ turns!

Ok I guess that makes sense, kinda sucks but if you need it you need it. I just play tested it and it is all that you promised it'll be. SLOW, ANNOYING and hard to beat.

After play testing it I think the Boomerang types cards are not needed because when you get a second Stasis in hand you can just not pay the upkeep and then cast the second stasis. also with the Hidden Strings you don't really need to bounce your Stasis .

I really like how Thwart and Ensnare work and with that in mind I might take out 2 Forsaken City s for 2 more Island s I think you have enough ability to get your lands untapped and you need Island and might not not have 'em.

I like Gitaxian Probe as a deck thinner and with all the counterspells your running it'd be good to know what your opponent has in hand. and something good to do on turn 1.

Fog Bank is great, but why Spellskite when your only creature has hexproof?

Play tested again and I like Forsaken City maybe leave all 4 or go down to 3.Man! it's annoying. Fog Bank would buy you some time to get everything on the board you need.

Thank you very much for all the playtests! I'm building a sideboard for odder matchups.

you might need more creatures in your SB for the "Target player sacrifices a creature abilities" I have a Deck Untouchable (S:9 U:10 :P9 $22) that is very good but can be thwarted by Gatekeeper of Malakir and the like. you might want to go with Bay Falcon as it fits the deck and will let you sac them instead of your Stalker.

Also Vapor Snag against super fast decks like infect or Kiln Fiend decks

maybe 2 more Daze against decks like Eggs and other creatureless fast decks

Annul against artifact or enchantment decks or Steel Sabotage or Hurkyl's Recall (little $pendy)

Leyline of Singularity against tokens and a bunch of other things. Those are my thoughts.

Very nice ideas. I think erasure is better than Bay Falcon here.

January 28, 2014 3:56 p.m.

Zer0w says... #10

I agree, I think that some Jace's Erasure should be main board but you still need some way of protecting your Stalker against forced sac. because your stalker with strings is really your best driver and win con in the deck (not the only but the best).

The idea would be to swap out my stalker for erasure IF somehow they can play removal without being countered or already locked down.

Wow... this seems miserable to play against. I'd remove Feldon's Cane and maybe another card or two and add Runechanter's Pike . It'll make the deck much faster, and at this point, speed = fun.

I've been working on a Delver deck recently, sort of the same idea but executed differently. As such, I thought of Delver of Secrets  Flip here. Might be good, works well with Ponder and all the control you've got going on here.

Zer0w says... #13

But that is not how the deck works dude! the way it works is slow and steady, when I say steady I mean slow/annoying/aggravating. and as he explained to me the Feldon's Cane is to keep him from milling himself with the Howling Mine . so what the deck does is get out the Stalker and then Strings cyphered on him and a stasis out and then it is over... well like 20 or more turns later its over. once his board is the way he wants it your turn will consist of drawing a card and then saying "go" if you play out enough lands to finely cast something it'll just get countered, you'll shout some expletives and then say "go". 'til you either die by 1 damage every turn by the stalker or just mill out with the Howling Mine . as I said it is slow but man it is hard to stop because most decks kinda count on having an untap step, thus not having an untap step kinda/really-really-really sucks. adding Delver of Secrets  Flip and all that stuff would just get in the way. plus it would make the deck fast and that would be less aggravating for his opponents and why would he want to do that?

You got it! Couldn't have put it better myself

Zer0w says... #15

Just tested it my Control, Annoy, Repeat (S:2 U:7 P:6 $45) and I can beat you quite often by getting a silence or a into the roil loaded in a Scepter. but other then that you just can't stop it.

January 28, 2014 9:11 p.m.

raweno says... #16

Yea silence bites, so does Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver .

It took me a few minutes to track down the comments. Someone compulsively cleans them up.

I get that this deck is slow. However, it would be a lot more fun if it were fast(er), and the cards I suggested do that. It was just an idea. I only said to cut Feldon's Cane because I would have added Runechanter's Pike which will speed the deck up enough that you won't run the risk of drawing yourself out. Two safeguards against the same thing. My idea also safeguards against people refusing to play with you anymore, or you yourself getting bored playing your deck. I think it takes less than 20 turns of "I attack you." "I take one. My turn?" to get really, really old.

January 28, 2014 11:20 p.m.

raweno says... #18

True. It probably will get old someday. But I do like putting a stranglehold on and watching someone die under my thumb :) At this point, after your friend's help, I really only need help for the sideboard.

Sorry for the compulsive tidying, I'm ocd about stuff like that.

twospires says... #19

Cyclonic Rift could work well in the sideboard against a deck that overcommits. Also annoying, so it'll fit in with the rest of your deck.

Ah! Forgot this in my earlier comment. Rune Snag is a fun counter spell for 2 mana.

January 29, 2014 6:44 a.m.

Last Thoughts might be useful, but I really like Ghostly Touch . Mana Vapors might also be a useful substitute. But I really like this deck :)

January 30, 2014 7:30 p.m.

i think you should run 4x Muddle the Mixture because the transmute is soo helpful in this deck. not only does it bring stasis out; it brings in almost every other card in your deck!

January 30, 2014 7:34 p.m.

Frampypants says... #23

more Muddle the Mixture to make the combo more consistent. Also, do you not only need 1 Invisible Stalker ? I could be wrong. If I am playing 4 for consistency's sake is a good plan. Don't know how much you want to pay but Force of Will exists...

January 30, 2014 8:58 p.m.

raweno says... #24

Force of Will is 73 dollars.

January 30, 2014 9:42 p.m.

you should at least make your sideboard 15 cards :P
