Update —June 2, 2017

Hello again all I am back from a hiatus from the site and slightly from the game been keeping up but haven't really been playing etc. I want to get my deck back on track and was scouring the newest sets for some cards to add into my beloved Merieke deck Which has always been my main EDH Build and has money sunk into her - now with some updates and all I am in need of some help from you all. I am now over the limit sadly and can't see what to cut/swap etc. So please send me all your ideas and lets make this deck more of a pain in the ass than she already was And please check the custom categories option to see how i organized it whether it is ramp, draw, tutor, counters, game enders, commander enablers, or things to interrupt the opponent - Hello Sweetie

Azure124 I won't use the Praetors at all. Period. I don't like them and they don't fit in with the theme of the deck. I'm not saying that they aren't useful, I just refuse to run them. Demonic Tutor is already in this deck, as is Increasing Ambition , but i think another tutor could work, what would you swap for one? The Sphinx's could possibly work as coulr Sorin, but again not very flavourful, and wouldn't know what to swap out for it. I see the merit for board wipes and they could be useful, just in testing it always screwed me over. I do happen to have the textless promos Wrath of God and Damnation so I'll try one or both out.

No +1?

didn't see the tutors in testing of your deck and i went through 70 cards one game, as i said before i don't know much about Dr. Who (is on my to do list to watch) but i will give any suggestions that i think make the deck stronger

Azure124 perhaps the first bit of advice I can give you is that you NEVER and I mean never shorthand the "Doctor" in Doctor Who. It is always spelt out. Ends nerd rant Also you can find it on Netflix (well the '05 reboot and up anyways) Well as it satnds now which cards would you dump for a couple more tutoring spells?

Crippling Chill ,Unhallowed Pact , New Benalia could all be cut

Well im here i will also give the rating for the commander challenge

Obscurity: 16/20, i have seen a few Merieke Ri Berit lists most of them are 1v1 but i have never seen a multiplayer list.

Effectiveness: 13/20, in a 1v1 game this deck thrives but in a 4 man free for all you have great difficulty setting up and controlling multiple players.

Flavor: 16/20, the deck plays like a cross between control and combo, the only reason it didn't get lower was the fact that it was based off of Dr. Who so strongly

Score Total: 45/60

I'm just really happy to see a Doctor Who themed deck.

Thanks Ambear why not upvote it than? :D I'm looking into creating my own personal Duel Deck type setting, just settling on the theme for the Doctor's opponents lol

Hi again DukeNicky i've been removing a bunch of non basic lands lately and having more success with my Make it Merry! Take it Merie! especially if you use the fetch lands without the ABUR duals. Tundra , Underground Sea , Scrubland
I was finding the "comes into play tapped" was cramping my style too much so swapped those for basics.
eg: Arcane Sanctum , Azorius Chancery , Orzhov Basilica , Sejiri Refuge etc...
A few of my usual group run mono-red and where shutting me down with Price of Progress and Blood Moon etc...
Not sure if this helps you at all, but just giving you my info.

How are you finding the speed/fast lands?

Crab Umbra can be great at quick general defence as well as fun untapping your general. Cool deck

I do like the Umbra since it is a temp shield and allows multiple hijinks with Merieke

Pemmin's Aura is another popular card to use with Merieke.

I like Phyrexian Tower as a sac outlet, as well as the Diamond Valley already suggested. I use it to sack Aura Thief with Enchanted Evening out!

Sorry to flood this! I see you've already maybe-boarded Royal Assassin ... going with the human theme, what about Sen Triplets ?

May 20, 2013 3:16 p.m.

Lol ill throw in a comment just for the sake of breaking yours up Alonzo

Alonzo thanks for all the comments; don't worry about flooding it I like to hear all suggestions. and LOL @Retard_O_Doom98's comment. If either of you like the deck I'd love your upvotes :)

As for the Diamond Valley I do love the option, but at the moment it is just a lil out of my price range (as are fetch lands and ABUR duals,) however the (cheaper) option of Phyrexian Tower is a nice sac outlet for some mana, I'll have to test it out. As for the tribal is theme I wasn't trying to go with a human theme perse I was just trying to go with the flavour of River Song and to make more abuse out of all the tap down I was running; as such I've actually decided to main-board the Assassin and swapped a couple cards out of here to test irl (just forgot to update here.) Sen Triplets is a viable option to run, I'd have to test out on here to see if it is worth picking one up, although I wouldn't know what to replace for them. I like your take on the enchantment control. I love the idea of Pemmin's Aura it's just another abuse outlet.

Thanks for your feedback! Always excited to see other decks like mine appear so i can compare/contrast.

I'm still testing out the enchantment-heavy control, It's a nice left field build, but with limited playtesting I can't tell if it's too gimmicky/janky yet. Using proxies I did manage to pull the Aura Thief /Enchanted Evening combo! My fall-back plan is straight-up control with Memnarch /March of the Machines /Mycosynth Lattice and Master of Etherium to protect my lands (as obviously when they turn into creatures they'd die from being 0/0's, means I keep mine and the enemy looses theirs.I'll definitely look into more tutors too. Demonic Tutor isn't as expensive as I thought, (despite working, I don't have 150 British Pounds for a Mana Drain ! haha) and I wasn't aware of Increasing Ambition . I don't have much time to devote to this with a weekday 9-5 either, so as yours evolves, I'd be VERY keen to see any playtest updates.

Any recommendations you can make for my deck to cut it down too would be welcome! lastly! Someone already suggested Control Magic , but I really think it could be great here, since you already have Isochron Scepter

What does the FR tag on undermine mean?

Cool deck, +1. I do like Merieke

May 26, 2013 2:37 a.m.

DukeNicky says... #21

FR is the tag for French, apparently we can tag foreign language crads Lhurgyof, however it seems to only work in decks. I tried to post that to my binder and it didn't display the tag. Thanks for the upvote ): I always love feedback.

Just discovered Stormscape Apprentice , which I think is better than Gideon's Lawkeeper !

Last comment for a while, I swear! Haha. With all the tapping/untapping, Stasis could be really interesting in keeping the opponent totally locked down.

DukeNicky says... #24

I love that Stormscape Apprentice !! Much more versatile than a simple lawkeeper.

Maybe a Meekstone could help?
