So, we're back after a break... it has been a while. Golgari is STRONG. And while I am a fan of it, there is a chance Dimir has a shot at bringing it down a peg. Blood Operative is very strong versus aggro decks thanks to the Lifelink, and with its recursion ability, it yields a pretty good payout. Why am I running Nightveil Predator you ask? Because Carnage Tyrant. That coupled with Vine Mare are good reasons to also slot Detection Tower. I haven't seen Vine Mare run in Golgari decks just yet, but I think it might see some play; perhaps in the sideboard. The rest of the deck is essentially just control with some serious firepower in the air to close out the game. Using surveil to get cards, and trigger crazy results with Disinformation Campaign and Blood Operative. The Eldest Reborn works well late game, and can snag a big fattie from the enemy graveyard. Moving into the sideboard, we see Arguel's Blood Fast   kicking out the jams for the control match ups, and Essence Scatter when you need to block some creature heavy times. Negate is again for control match ups, or maybe even midrange at times. Thief of Sanity plays much the same role that Gonti, Lord of Luxury used to play. Against a control deck, this card strips some serious firepower away, and lets you play with it. Sure it will die, thanks to the very large bevy of removal, but that's ok, they didn't hit your other cards, and if you want - counter the spell they toss at it. Unmoored Ego wrecks the life of anyone playing some decks, and is a new version of Lost Legacy and I love it. I think its probably one of my favorite cards to board in. I might even go with three of these instead of that last Ritual of Soot but I'm playing it safe. The battlefield is rife with lower CMC creatures right now.

A version of this deck went top 8 in the SCG Dallas, and I think its strong. I've incorporated some of the ideas from it in this one, and am just spinning it out there. Full credit to Justin Rouse and those that came before him on Dimir control variants.

EDIT: I wanna give Connive / Concoct some love. Its a card I have to be brave enough to slot over The Eldest Reborn but I'd have to see in a match what I'm up against, then decide if I can swap it out to try it. Given that, I slapped two in the board.

EDIT 2: Passing on Connive / Concoct simply bc of the mana cost on a spell that is somewhat lackluster compared to The Eldest Reborn. Although, it is fast, it does not make up for its lack of two mana offering. Fungal Infection is back in the deck as very potent CC. There's a post on reddit regarding Dimir Control discussion about it. It has its uses. Very, very, potent uses. Examples include taking hexproof creatures down a peg by tossing a -1/-1 on one creature, and then making an instant chump blocker. In addition, you can use it to put -1/-1 on one of your own creatures to trigger a creature to sacrifice to an enemy's The Eldest Reborn or other forced sacrificial target.

EDIT 3: Update to swap out the Disdainful Stroke for Sinister Sabotage. Why? Because if its a 4 cost spell I'm going to do this later on, and mana is not an issue at that point. I may as well pick up the surveil trigger to get something good. At 3 mana, it's not much of a difference. Double blue is there, but my mana base is sufficient for that demand. Surveil also leads to further options with the includes in the deck.

EDIT 4: I've updated the sideboard to include some of The Immortal Sun because honestly it works so damn good against Jeskai Control, or any control decks in general. It also shuts down Golgari planeswalkers as well. This deck has no planeswalkers, and if you can get it off, its a significant advantage to your board. The card advantage, creature buff, and spell cost reduction work in intense ways. It also forces your opponent to burn out some control or a counterspell or anything else to focus on removing it instead of your other latent threats.
