A creature-oriented, ultra-budget
Mechanized Production
deck. We use a variety of cheap creatures to stall and generate tons of Clues, and then burn clues digging through the deck to find
Mechanized Production
.
Thraben Inspector
and
Daring Sleuth
hold down the ground early and generate some value, while we assemble our engine:
Bygone Bishop
+
Erdwal Illuminator
. Since a third of our deck is creatures with CMC <= 3, we can generate lots of clues fast. Later in the game we can often make four or five clues a turn. We also have some value creatures in
Graf Mole
(to help bide our time) and
Renowned Weaponsmith
(to sac our clues more cheaply).
We also have a few other enablers to accelerate our combo.
Ulvenwald Mysteries
rewards us for trading off our creatures, and let's us slowly grind out games while we assemble our pieces.
Inspiring Statuary
is a late-game accelerant, while
Tamiyo's Journal
creates clues and also helps find
Mechanized Production
.
Since we're so all-in on clues, we get to run some unconventional tricks.
Dispatch
and
Angelic Purge
are cheap, flexible removal
which we can usually turn on pretty fast. And
Confront the Unknown
makes clues, saves our creatures, and can even create a surprise kill if the game goes long.
Our sideboard holds more removal in
Oblivion Ring
and
Angelic Purge
. It also contains a lot of aggro insurance: More
Graf Mole
s, another
Ulvenwald Mysteries
, and
Fountain of Renewal
. A few
Root Out
offer an on-theme way to handle artifacts and enchantments, and
Padeem, Consul of Innovation
rounds out the list and gives our clues an insurance policy.
For a less budget version, the most obvious upgrades are improving the manabase (we're full-on three colors here, which in this ultra-budget space means taplands galore). And, of course
Tireless Tracker
, who blows the budget all on his own but also fixes the biggest problem with the deck (sometimes, you just don't draw any clue-makers).
Hope you enjoy the deck!
