Lead the Stampede

Sorcery

Look at the top five cards of your library. You may reveal any number of creature cards from among them and put the revealed cards into your hand. Put the rest on the bottom of your library in any order.

I love this idea. I also love that, having read so many of your decks by now, I was able to predict exactly what I would find simply by reading the title and then looking at the card list. I had no idea there were so many less-than-$1 repeatable Proliferate sources!

My first thought was similar to Lando's: that Green would be helpful. But my main reason was to Rampant Growth our way to the Senate faster. You've got a lot of cards that help after the Elocutors are on the table, but the fact that I have to wait until Turn 6 to start firing off... Well, you've seen my decks and you know I love me my microbudget brews, but I've been able to hit wincon by Turn 4 in a lot of places. Also, while I'm not sure how much Repeatable Proliferate there is in Green, I think this deck is at least plausible in Simic.

My other thought was that I'd want some sort of fetch spell to find the Elocutors, and a lot of those come in Green (Adventure Awaits, Feral Encounter, Commune with Nature, Incubation / Incongruity, Lead the Stampede, Seek the Wilds). Of course, with a full playset, maybe I don't need this spell too often.

@Icbrgr: Summoner's Pact because you can often win the turn you would want to cast it. I'd also back it up with 3~4 Lead the Stampede. I've found Collected Company and other stuff that dumps elves into play just not worth it when you're only getting 1 and 2 CMC dorks.

I've played elves in Modern before:

My conclusion wasn't speed or consistency, but just how badly you lose to any deck with red in it. Lightning Bolt on Elvish Archdruid on turn two ends the game. Ragavan, Nimble Pilferer flipping a mana dork for them to cast ends the game. Wrenn and Six sniping a creature each turn ends the game. And God have mercy on you if your opponent casts a Pyroclasm or Anger of the Gods or Kozilek's Return.

The good news is Fury was banned. The bad news is not much else has changed. Priest of Titania is still going to die to burn spells and there's nothing to be done about it.

tl;dr--only play elves if your meta has no red decks.

love elves! has Llanowar Visionary felt good in play? i think its a really strong card but i feel like elves is so fast it might be a bit out of tune. also a huge fan of all of ur 1 drop mana dorks i think i need more of them in my elves list. btw Winding Way is another effect similar to Lead the Stampede as is You Meet in a Tavern but you may prefer Lead the Stampede.

I think it's important to have a good 3 drop to start increasing the offensive preassure early, or to support the big dinos in combat, and Giant Cindermaw seems the perfect one for the job. A cheap 4/3 trample. Not many other decent 3 drop dinosaurs around. Territorial Hammerskull might be interesting to pacify a dangerous blocker, although it doesn't have Trample and it's weaker

I think Ilysian Caryatid is good for giving up to 2 mana, but I understand the allure of Birds of Paradise

I need something to draw more cards but in these colors I find it hard to do so efficiently. I was thinking about replacing Lead the Stampede by something else, maybe Hunter's Insight (?)

Boros Charm is 3 useful effects in one instant. It can help with the damage, save multiple creatures from being destroyed or give an unblocked or chump blocked Carnage Tyrant or Ancient Imperiosaur Double Strike for a massive hit

Better for sure.

I’m not sold on Giant Cindermaw being useful, and I think you should use a 1-mana dork instead of Ilysian Caryatid.

I also don’t think Lead the Stampede is worth running as a 3-mana sorcery to get on average 2 cards seems very meh.

What’s your plan for Boros Charm? The indestructible could be nice but i’m not sure how often you’ll have mana to respond to stuff, and I don’t see the other 2 modes coming up much

TheMeadiator I like Browbeat and Risk Factor, used both in other decks. I've decided to mainboard 2x Lead the Stampede as it can draw me more cards than Browbeat.

Colossal Majesty is a bit too slow for me, and Dawn of Hope doesn't make much sense here since I dont use Lifelink

I agree that more craw draw is necessary, but it's hard to find good one in these colors for a tribal deck

it may just end up being a worse version of Lead the Stampede but You Meet in a Tavern being able to buff the whole board can help close out games

adding on to what mlequesne said, Winding Way is another similar option that would capitalize on your critical mass of creatures. while sometimes just a worse Lead the Stampede, having the option to buff your entire board makes You Meet in a Tavern an interesting option as well.
