Grand Crescendo

Instant

Create X 1/1 green and white Citizen creature tokens. Creatures you control gain indestructible until end of turn. (Damage and effects that say "destroy" don't destroy them.)

I thought about going the token route before and decided that if I wanted to go there I'd have to lean too heavily into it to make it worth it. This deck doesn't really benefit large amounts of creatures so the only usefulness they would actually get would be their ETB on my lifegain to quick boost some creatures with +1's. That being said, there are still some cards I like in the selection you gave.

Cards that depend on large amounts of mana aren't going to go far in this deck so the Secure the Wastes is out, but the Grand Crescendo has utility in at the very least being a 2 mana response to board wipes so I like it. Call the Coppercoats would make for a good 3 mana surprise at instant speed for attacks and defense.

Cat Collector and Horn of Gondor are too slow when the point is to gain life or capitalize on instances of life gain. Other cards are cheaper or better and I wouldn't want to trade them out.

Myrel, Shield of Argive is also pretty slow on buildup, especially considering I don't have a soldier deck, but she's always still a good card to keep in a back pocket for white decks. A lot of turns will go by with me not quite reaching 5 life gain in a single turn so I don't know how useful Resplendent Angel will be, but she's only 3 mana so I'll hold on to her for a while and see how it goes. I would have to be topdecking lands on an empty hand to use her 6 mana ability most likely.

Without leaning more into mass creatures Leyline of Hope doesn't provide enough for 4 mana. I'll pop off with 1 or 2 10/10's and start swinging and that +2 doesn't change much. Nyx Lotus Looks like a good choice for this deck if i need more mana for the curve though.

All in all, I love the suggestions and thank you very much for looking over my deck. It is always appreciated.

Excellent looking deck, zelous666! I really like that you chose Hopeful Initiate and Reluctant Role Model; wasn't even aware these existed and they really add to the utilities the deck can make use of.

Considering the amount of cards you use to gain life based on creature-ETB, I was wondering how you'd feel about adding some cards that generate creature tokens. These could be permanents like Cat Collector, Horn of Gondor, Myrel, Shield of Argive or Resplendent Angel. One-shot deals could be fun too. Call the Coppercoats, Grand Crescendo and Secure the Wastes for example.

Other cards I could recommend would be Nyx Lotus, because of the massive devotion this deck can conjure up. Also, Leyline of Hope to double lifegain AND provide a nice anthem to your critters could be fun. Enjoy!

A few more I found/thought of:

  • Shatter the Source - Flexible removal with convoke.
  • Stoke the Flames - Burn with convoke, creature removal mostly.
  • Grand Crescendo - In my Piru deck. Token creation with upside of single-turn indestructible for one more mana.
  • Daring Thief - Powerful board disruption when used to convoke. This is more of a maybe than an auto-include.

Why?

The focus of these changes were to increase the token generation ability of the deck. Many of the removed cards interacted with cards that have been killed/allowing me to profit off of the death of tokens/creatures. Often, this would lead to me having a board of creatures that Caesar couldn't make use of which would stall my boardstate.

11 Card Changes

Creatures

-1 Alesha, Who Smiles at Death: Limited Graveyard recursion that didn't do much for many of my creatures

-1 Athreos, God of Passage: Tokens are what mainly die in my deck and those can't be in my hand

-1 Deathgreeter: Hard choice to make with this one, but at the end of the day, I wanted to remove this aspect of the deck. I don't care as much about longterm survivability if I can win early.

-1 Desdemona, Freedom's Edge: Similar to Alesha and Atheros

-1 Elas il-Kor, Sadistic Pilgrim: Another hard choice to make, but I want to focus on tokens entering the battlefield and the attack phase rather than sacrificing and graveyard.

-1 Morbid Opportunist: Good card but similar to Elas, I want to focus on ETB and Attacking rather than killing

-1 Paladin Elizabeth Taggerdy: I don't want many of my creature cards attacking and honestly the CMC of many of my creatures doesn't make this card worth it

-1 Pitiless Plunderer: Same as Morbid

-1 White Glove Gourmand: Ended up being a card that read: 4 mana create 2 humans, which is not ideal

Artifacts

-1 Ashnod's Altar: Never really panned out how I wanted it to, make room for better cards

Enchantments

-1 Battle of Hoover Dam: Choosing NCR runs into the same issue as Alesha and Desmonda, choosing Legion is fine but also not amazing. I would rather buff all my cards or keep them small to help with McCready

Creatures

+1 Hero of Bladehold: Great consistent token generator, and it creates soldiers

+1 Iroas, God of Victory *list*: Keep my tokens alive and able to consistently hit face against tall boards

+1 Karlach, Fury of Avernus: I LOVE this card, similar to Isshin being able to trigger Caesar's ability multiple times per turn is super strong. Also, I have many other attack phase triggers

+1 Myrel, Shield of Argive: Better Hero of Bladehold + Grand Abolisher, this card is a no brainer. Plus it has soldier synergy

Enchantments

+1 Anointed Procession: Stupid to not include this card in a white token deck

+1 Court of Embereth: This card is STRONG, consistently generates targets for Caesar to sacrifice if needed, and it does Caesar's strongest ability automatically every turn. Also Monarch is fun and I can consistently fight to keep it.

+1 Warleader's Call: Purphoros and a static +1/+1

Instants

+1 Grand Crescendo: At worst, it's 2 mana to make my board indestructible, at best it generates tokens for me

Sorcerys

+1 Finale of Glory: Token generator

Artifacts

+1 Mana Vault: More fast mana!

+1 The One Ring: Card draw plus protection from everything

Kambal is a pretty sweet design, though I think you're maybe trying to go in a few too many directions.

Since Kambal's second ability doesn't care how many tokens are created, I would consider cutting Mondrak, Glory Dominus and Anointed Procession even though they are both amazing cards otherwise. But if you really want to lean into Kambal they don't directly help your game plan.

In general you've got a sizable aristocrats package, but only a few sac outlets. If you want to go aristocrats I think you want to lean further into it. So either add some more sac outlets or dial it way back and focus on the other aspects of how Kambal works. Mind you a card like Suture Priest is probably good whatever route you go there.

You've got a couple of slower and not consistent token creators like Halo Fountain and Battle Angels of Tyr that I think could be cut.

I also think your protection package is too large. I think you'd be better off with maybe 3-4 protection pieces maximum, and ideally ones that synergize with the rest of your game plan like Grand Crescendo and Fanatical Devotion. I'd remove all the enchantment options you have there.

I'd also dial your board wipes down, though that could be meta-dependent, but 5 seems like 3-4 too many for your deck.

There are a handful of cards that probably aren't advancing your game plan too.

  • Bloodchief Ascension is a crazy powerful card, but you don't directly leverage it. That card also points a massive target on whomever plays it, so I don't run it unless the deck fully leverages it.
  • Cathars' Crusade is very powerful but slower and makes managing the board state a nightmare. I've actually taken it out of most of my decks just because I hate having to deal with all the different counters.
  • Tainted Remedy is an okay card in the right deck, but I'm not seeing what it's doing for you here unless your meta is filled with lifegain decks.

Good luck with your build!
