Best Modern Playables in Amonkhet

Just posting to see what people think are the best/most likely to see play cards in modern from almond cat. I personally have hopes to see a zombie tribal be at least tier 2 or 3 with the addition of Dread Wanderer and Wayward Servant.

I'm also one of the few that thinks Hazoret is one of the better modern cards in this set either in a hyper aggro style curve topper or in a type of rakdos Grindy build of they can't hurt you if their things are dead. Where it's just all the kills some burn and loot effects.

I also think Enigma Drake flew under the radar for a lot. Bolt proof is pretty nifty unlike its chimera breatheren. Also at least midly into Censor as a potential card but it's too fringe for me so far

I actually saw that video wasn't totally huge on all his picks. Like I think bonepicker is a little too conditional to be worth it. But it did inspire me to ask the community too because I actually dig this set from a modern stand point.

I don't think this set is playable heaven, as others have been.

Harsh Mentor is a big one and will be seeing a lot of testing. It will also probably wind up in the Vintage 5c humans deck.

Throne of the God-Pharaoh seem to have potential in an aggressive shell or as a finisher in some combo builds with a lot of dorks, like elves.

Glorious End seems interesting enough. Maybe some of the combo decks as a 3 mana take an extra turn spell.

As Foretold seems really interesting as a value engine for a control deck.

The cares about zombie cards open up WB and Esper zombies as sacrifice based aristocrat style builds which might push them to playability. Good drain and stuff. You also get the extra value from casting them which you can use to lock a board down before swinging in.

Vizier of Remedies might let you tweak coco or push the Redcap combo into Mardu as well, as you only need W R/B R/B not WW R/B R/B.

Cycle lands open up intresting posibilites for a scapeshift style combo with Splendid Reclamation or just a draw engine with Life from the Loam.

Forsake the Worldly is pretty good as well, I would be surprised if it didn't see a bit of play cause cycling is good and exile can be relevant.

Im honestly all for Glorious End and trying to make it work. Maybe thats just too much optimism but some people are very creative when it comes to avoiding these negative drawbacks

I'm personally most excited about Soul-Scar Mage, because I love the idea of trying him out in UR Prowess.

Other potentials:

Vizier can probably slot into melira decks or things of forgot about that one.

I think glorious end won't pan out though I also want to do pure jank of doing a reanimated phage and cast that in response to the trigger on Phage the Untouchable.

im not gonna name the ones already said. other than those, im thinking rhonas in green stompy. sweltering suns might see play in skred because it can be cycled so its not a terrible topdeck lategame. Prowling Serpopard may see some play in the sb. of course there are all the new 1 mana cycle cards for living end. soul scar mage is gonna see some play, and if it doesnt, ill make it. it makes pyroclasm incredible, and can kill everything. Also, it doesnt let finks come back. Regal Caracal could see play because its super value. Also, it has synergy with brimaz and pridemage, so maybe in hatebears. leonin arbiter too as well as fleecemane lion. i like it a lot. Devoted Crop-Mate could be good in aristocrats. Especially junk. Bringing back all ur stuff, especially voice. I like Bone Picker too, sakura tribe elder, and all sorts of stuff like that. Aristocrats could get better, maybe even like top 15.Censor is also good in delver and tempo decks, it is a soft counter that can turn cantrip. Nest of Scarabs could be great in some brew. Stinging shot and stuff. never, mouth and heaven are also good. hapatra, khenra charioteer, and samut too.

I predict Bone Picker will have a price spike (Black Delver anyone?)

Harsh Mentor and Soul-Scar Mage might see some play, as well as Prowling Serpopard for sideboard and I'd say Glorious End will get thrown into something broken. Anointed Processions gonna go nuts with token decks, and As Foretold will have deck built around it soon enough. I don;t think the cycling lands will see too much play but you never know

@clayperce: I'm abso-fucking-lutely putting Vizier of Remedies in Abzan CoCo in place of the second Melira, Sylvok Outcast. It has the same interaction with Kitchen Finks and Murderous Redcap, but it's not legendary.

It's incredibly useful when you're trying to setup the combo with a Collected Company. Nothing worse than flipping over double Melira, Sylvok Outcast and nothing else. But flipping Melira, Sylvok Outcast AND Vizier of Remedies? Yeah, the opponent needs twice the removal. Get. Fucked.

...that's about all they can do at that point.

You already have an amazing matchup against Infect (especially with Gitaxian Probe out of the format), so it's not like the excess -1/-1 counters are all that relevant.

But on the subject of Infect, Vizier of Remedies seems like a decent sideboard option for decks like Nahiri or Esper Control that can have a hard time against Infect, but no access to green for Melira, Sylvok Outcast. The interaction is also helpful for brining in Kitchen Finks, even without a sac outlet, because it means Burn has to waste even more spells clearing a path.

I don't think it will see a play in very many sideboards due to the decks wanting it not having space, but having the option available is always a good thing. It could be valuable to people playing non-green decks in an Infect-heavy meta.
