Banning Challenge

You have to ban 1 card from these Tier one decklists. The card has to effect the deck and take some steam out of it, but it must remain playable. For example, you can't ban Splinter Twin in U/R twin, because then the deck would be unplayable.

Here are the decks

Twin Exarch Melira Pod UWR control Affinity Jund UWx Midrange UR storm Zoo Aura HexproofBlue Moon (Not tier 1, but I find it fun. In a not at all fun to play against kind of way)

Here are the decklists http://www.mtgtop8.com/event?e=6710&d=238556

All the fetchlands! They make it impossible for anyone without 1,200 dollars to play modern!

@ iheartblue you're almost right. Merfolk and Tron are 2 very powerful and competitive decks in modern, that run without fetches.

You can't ban something becuase of price. In any case, snapcaster seems fine if in ubiquity. It could be potentially banned. Honestly, the only card I see that could be banned would be pod. The deck is a little too versatile and resiliant. Its reasonable but scary.

Lightning Bolt

Its the one thing that most of these decks have in common, and taking it out would take a lot of power out of the format, keep the good decks good, and make room for new decks to rise in the process.

Except the format would also be awful without Lightning Bolt . The Modern meta would only shrink without access to cheap interaction to fast combo and fast aggro.

Deceiver Exarch (you can use Pestermite so it's still viable), Chord of Calling , Cryptic Command , Darksteel Citadel , I'd say jund is fine now, but if you (not directed at OP just incase you thought this comment was) want to be a dick, then ban Abrupt Decay . For UWx mid, I'd ban Geist of Saint Traft , I'd get rid of Past in Flames for storm, Kird Ape for zoo, Daybreak Coronet for hexproof, and Master of Waves for blue moon.

Would it be bad to say fetch lands?

It'd be bad to say fetchlands 3 months after this thread was relevant.

Also, yes.
