jeskai

Has anyone experience with budget jeskai? While figuring out a nice manacurve I tend to switch between a more Aggro (Shaman of the Great Hunt Sarkhan, the Dragonspeaker Monastery Swiftspear Goblin Rabblemaster) and a more control version. I have no idea which is the way to go.

The best way to go (since this is a modern forum) would be to either save up more money, or play a different deck. Jeskai (not on a budget) is a very difficult deck to play, and if you're not very experienced with it, you'll lose a lot, and I mean a LOT. Playing Jeskai on a budget is not a good idea, because you lose Snaps, a good manabase, Cryptics and a heap more very necessary things. The cards you mentioned are all standard cards, and don't belong in any form of Jeskai. There's midrange which focuses on playing things like Restoration Angel with counterspell backup, there's the Geist of Saint Traft aggressive version, or control, which uses powerful spells like Cryptic and Remand to grind the game out, with something like Keranos or Ajani to close out the game.

Looking at your list, you seem to want to go for Delver, which is quite doable under UR with a white splash. Of course, the manabase will always be an issue, but you can get away with playing 6 blue fetches (Flooded Strand and Polluted Delta are the cheapest), 2 shocks (Steam Vents), a couple islands, and some utility. Great creatures include Young Pyromancer, and the full set of Swiftspears. This should leave you with 12 creatures, and you could either add 2 Grim Lavamancer, or just load up on cheap spells, like Helix, Spell Snare, Electrolyze, Spell Pierce etc. The issues with playing this are that fetches may be a tad expensive, and Serum Visions are costly, however, they are completely necessary for the deck to even function (but you can work around not having Snaps).

I have to agree with JexInfinite and say you're not far off from having a good Jeskai Delver deck.

For reference, here's a list that got 14th. place at a SCG event:

Jeskai Delver by Ezra Guttierrez

Personally, I wouldn't have used Lava Spike, Manamorphose, or Rift Bolt like he did (I would have gone with a mix of Path to Exile, Thought Scour, Grim Lavamancer, and Spell Snare). But, that should give you a good idea of where you could go with your deck.

The only must-haves are more copies of Serum Visions and Young Pyromancer. Swap out your lands that come into play tapped for whatever dual lands you can afford that come in untapped. The various charms can be swapped out for Mana Leaks, Thought Scours, and whatever else you can afford.

@eytschpie: Ah okay, I didn't realize that's what you were going for. In that case, look around for Jeskai Midrange. An example:

Jeskai Midrange by Sa_To_Ri

Mantis Rider is really bad in Modern because of its 3 toughness. This means it can be hit by Lightning Bolt and Lightning Helix, on top of Path to Exile and Abrupt Decay. You'd want to play Geist of Saint Traft over it.

My buddy plays Jeskai Midrange with Lightning Angels. He plays an early threat, then rides Remand, Mana Leak, Lightning Bolt, etc. to victory, protecting his threat.

So here i go i. How does the decklist look? I decided to spend more money for it ( Path to Exile, Serum Visions,Flooded Strand ). I will keep Mantis Rider in it until i got enough money to buy a more solid 3 drop. The question is if Delver of Secrets  Flip is vailable in this deck and if the "core" of this deck fits the modern standards. Thank you very much for your support!!!
