Constructive criticism and feedback greatly appreciated!! :) The deck is still in the experimental and testing phases.
An experimental combo deck based on
Worldfire
and
Wildfire Eternal
, which is where the deck gets its name.
At it's most basic, the deck is designed to cheat out a
Worldfire
with either an unblocked
Wildfire Eternal
or an attacking
Narset, Enlightened Master
, and once it resolves win in one of several ways:
1) A single
Keldon Marauders
will win the game after a successful
Worldfire
resolution due to its leaves-the-battlefield trigger. According to the Oracle Text of Worldfire: "Leaves-the-battlefield triggers won’t resolve until you’re done resolving Worldfire entirely", making the Marauders the best win-con in the deck. Unfortunately, Vanishing puts a two-turn clock on when Worldfire must be cast, so careful timing is key. Another trick is to use
Otherworldly Journey
to exile
Keldon Marauders
in response to your own
Worldfire
, which will win the game at your end-step when marauders returns. Similarly,
Otherworldly Journey
can be used on a
Mogg Fanatic
, which can sacrificed for the win at the beginning of the opponent's next turn.
2) A suspended
Rift Bolt
to the dome. Probably the second-most reliable method of winning after a
Worldfire
, being the least mana and card-intensive of the possible win-cons in the deck. However, the timing of having to cast it the turn before the
Worldfire
hits makes it more vulnerable to disruption (Ex.: your opponent can simply block your Eternal or Narset, knowing you're planning to
Worldfire
.
3) Simple beatdown.
Keldon Marauders
,
Mogg Fanatic
,
Wildfire Eternal
,
Narset, Enlightened Master
, and
Rift Bolt
can all kill your opponent without the need of
Worldfire
entirely. It's just harder that way.
4) Sideboard options: using
Barren Glory
or
Near-Death Experience
with an
Oblivion Ring
in the same manner as
Keldon Marauders
+ Otherwordly Journey. However, these options are more mana intensive and are unable to chip away at an opponent the way the marauders and fanatics can.
Other possible tricks:
One can use
Ignorant Bliss
in response to Worldfire in order to keep one's hand intact.
By pitching a
Worldfire
to
Faithless Looting
, one can circumvent needing an unblocked Eternal or attacking Narset to combo off, using
Spelltwine
instead to cast it. This makes for a good second option, particularly game 2, to keep your opponent off balance.
Spelltwine
can be cast off Narset or an Eternal as well.
