So some new stuff happened. Article confirmed I was headed the right direction with the Blossom plan.

Let's see. Gawd. If I am planning to play with you at an FNM, you better go better than 1-3-0! xD

Ok, first of all, butcher is a no-go. Dude seems hard to cast when you have Blood Moon in play. However, Monastery Mentor seems like it would be hilarious here, especially if you saved up for anotherPath to Exile. Even better than that though would be 2 Ajani Vengeant. Only $10 too! It can single-handedly win games, and the duel deck version looks super cool in foil. Selling a Thoughtseize to pick up 2 Inquisition of Kozileks wouldn't be bad either. 4 IoK and 2 TS seems like a good balance. Mirran Crusader is also pretty sweet in today's meta, but it's more of a Side Board card. A singleton Sword of Light and Shadow or Sword of Fire and Ice or Sword of Feast and Famine would also be sweet. F&F is the cheapest, and is still really good. Sword of War and Peace isn't bad either though.

Leyline of Sanctity in the SB seems good here, but it's on the more expensive side of the spectrum. You might want 2 Fulminator Mage/Rain of Tears for Tron. Sowing Salt would work too for Tron and control with Celestial Colonnade. Just a good card.

Another Rest in Peace and Stony Silence would be nice. With no Goyfs, rip only hurts angler (which can be cut) and Souls, but kills Goyfs, storm, and even snappy! Silence destroys affinity decks. Like, Destroys.

Hope this helped! Just some food for thought. Good luck!

Price isn't much of a concern for me. I'm trying to figure out this equation.

Switched moon to fulminators. Wanted to see if the extra aggression and recursion helped.

Chandra in over siege because of stated reasons

I need some earlier pressure. Brimaz finks grim lavamancer. Something to help chip away at the opponent while i answer plays.

So you went with Brimaz, King of Oreskos... Interesting. May I suggest a sword or two for your tokens? Or would that just not work.

I like this build. It just seems much more solid overall.

I cut the Pyromancer package altogether. The only problem I have with swords is more often than not, people will just kill your dude in response to the equip which is just a Time Walk Is no bueno. I don't know how I feel about this current list. Something tells me it's good buuuuut I really don't know anymore

Heavy changes after your tournament I see. Want to do testing with this build?

I'm at work until ten :(

Sadness.

Huge changes because i was too slow so i had to pull pyro for bob. Without pyro, there was no reason for chandra/siege. With bob, gurmag had to go. With gurmag gone and moon replaced i didn't need as many fetches, without tokens and fetches, my land base was better off with ghost quarter to cut off utility and help against ramp decks. Cut some spells for lili to help against...everything right now. Ajani is a maybe. Currently testing all mardu walkers in that spot

Nice. Well I hope this version does better next time you go to that tournament. What's the local meta there?

June 20, 2015 1:23 p.m.

VampireArmy says... #11

It shifts a lot apparently. The week before i went was majority elves and company decks but this week it was

5 burn decks

1 grixis delver

1 grixis twin

1 tron gr

1 martyr proc

1 jeskai control geist

1 jeskai moon-twin hybrid

The sliver guy was only visiting so i don't count him

Interesting. Are there are any regulars that stick to one specific deck, or do they all change decks every time?

June 20, 2015 1:33 p.m.

VampireArmy says... #13

I think the ones listed Are pretty much the norm there. The guys playing company just didn't show up this week

I feel bad for the sliver guy. You should help him bit.

+1 thank you for this new build!

I'm wondering how much of her weight Soulfire Grand Master pulls. The activated seems way too inefficient for Modern, so I assume you run a playset for the 2/2 body and the lifelink, albeit redundant w a playset. But rather than make assumptions I thought I'd ask of your experience.

July 1, 2015 9:29 p.m.

VampireArmy says... #17

To be honest she isn't what i want there. It's only that on color she does well enough. Her activated ability will almost never be used but it works as a 2/2 lifelink that happens to refill lost life.

It's a flex spot for sure. Almost any 2 drop will do. For now I'm trying to find the absolute best one i can which seems to be a little difficult.

What was wrong with Young Pyromancer?

July 1, 2015 9:52 p.m.

VampireArmy says... #19

It was kind of slow honestly. I never felt all that confident attacking with it and pumping out one or two tokens a turn never got me there enough. I'm looking for a card that can either turn sideways efficiently or provide insane value. Not exactly easy without green but I'm sure I can make up for it in synergy. I'd consider Kytheon if he wasn't so hard to flip

You say you have trouble closing at the game. I say, w all this lifegain why not pressure your opponent with Bitterblossom? Can be sac'd to Butcher of the Horde as well, if needed.

July 2, 2015 12:30 a.m.

Manapanda says... #21

More consistent than Young Pyromancer, harder to remove.

July 2, 2015 12:32 a.m.

VampireArmy says... #22

I've considered that deeply. I'll give it a second thought. Butcher could be dropped too for Sorin if need be as well

July 2, 2015 12:43 a.m.

Nixin72 says... #23

Bitterblossom seems like it's not a bad idea. But wouldn't that be even slower than Young Pyromancer? The only advantage it has is being harder to remove. Often impossible game 1 for a lot of decks.

July 2, 2015 8:24 a.m.

VampireArmy says... #24

The other advantage is it triggers no matter what. You play it and it does it's thing until they remove it. I like that a lot better than trying to pace my spells.

Okay, here's a list of all permanents of 2 CMC that I thought may not be horrible. Some of them obviously far less useful than others, but everything I though you might like.

Pack Rat, Grand Abolisher, Seeker of the Way, Brain Maggot, Tidehollow Sculler,Battle Brawler, Bitterblossom, Blind Obedience, Mastery of the Unseen

Nothing on the list is horrible I don't think, although some are admittedly very weak suggestions, I'm just throwing them out there.
