Description

It's a wall deck with out any walls, what could be more fun than that? A possible turn 3 win:

  1. Land + Birds of Paradise
  2. Land + Doran, the Siege Tower
  3. Land + Mardu Ascendancy : Then just attack with Birds of Paradise & Doran, the Siege Tower, spawn two tokens tapped and attacking, sacrifice Mardu and you've just hit for 20 damage!

If you wish to leave suggestions below please suggest which cards I should replace them for, and if you like the deck feel free to +1 Upvote and Follow for future content additions.

This deck is silly ( not in a bad sense either). I enjoy wacky strategit's and this looks good for fnm and maybe even gp levels with some tuning.

Luckily with the death of the modern competitive scene this decks' total price has dropped almost $75USD in the last 5 months or so, and it honestly looks like it will keep decreasing which is even better for the causal magic player.

The problem with this deck is if they play a single creature turn 1, 2, or 3, you lose XD

@Richrox Not at all as if you plan to win with the turn 3 combo you have already lost the game :/ what should be focused on is the decks strength which is as a tall build strategy. The combo exists for no other reason than that the nescesary cards in your main board allow you to do so as a consequence of being reactive and proactive.

I don't understand why people these days are so dependent on macro level combos when quality synergy is all that needs to exist to win.

Lol yeah. We should partner a build on the synergies between Force of Will + Storm Crow . Now that is good card interaction.

Honestly, I initially thought this deck looked like garbage until I took a closer look. I am decently impressed! It kind of reminds me of the affinity deck people are fond of except with walls

Sadly people do not give Doran the respect he deserves :P

Have you seen the DoranZur deck that uses Mardu Ascendency for the combo win?

What about Tree of Redemption?

At 4 mana Tree of Redemption would sit at the top of my high end. I generally do not like using creatures with the "defender" ability as it prevents me from using them offensively as I do with my others creatures. The healing provides from the tree is useful but in most situations in which I would best utilize the ability (vs burn) casting it would already be to late to be useful given the pace of modern. I can not say that the tree deserves an inclusion due to its sub par utility and versatility at 4mana.

You do realize Modern is no longer a competitive focus for Wotc right? So why would hyper viability matter ever. If you want hyper-competitive go build an affinity deck in sure you $800-1500 will be well spent.

As a side note the focus of this deck is as a highly competitive Doran styled construction. It can never be as competitive as the 3 ever present (virtually never changing outside of bans) modern decks that have been a constant presence at every tournament in the last 3-5 years but honestly nothing ever will be as anything else that overcomes those would just get banned like Eldrazi Aggro had been.
