Its time to get serious about standard again!

In almost every block I try to pull off a monoblack deck and I feel like the current standard sets have given us the cards to do it.

The deck is very controlling. The goal is to delay the opponents early game and later grind them out.

Cabal Stronghold and Azor's Gateway   together with Josu Vess, Lich Knight serves as an alternative wincon, ether that or they create enough mana to let us cast the big boys like Doom Whisperer, Bone Dragon or The Eldest Reborn while still having mana left for removal or other cards.

Bone Dragon isnt very spectacular, but it might be crucial in the late game against controlling decks. This is a card we want to put in the graveyard when we are using surveil.

Azor's Gateway   together with Discovery / Dispersal let us find all the pieces we need in the beginning of the game. The gateway also gives some much need life when it flips, it is kind of the backbone of the deck.

The removal suite consists of 4x Ravenous Chupacabra which removes creatures while leaving a body for card advantage. Dead Weight is our tool to disrupt the early game of opponents. Vraska's Contempt is the weapon against planewalkers and graveyard strategies. Golden Demise sweeps at both sides of the board but for us only Ravenous Chupacabra is vulnerable after it has provided some value anyway. Cast Down serves as some occasional cheap removal.
