Golden Demise Discussion

Pretty high cmc. Seems as though aggro decks would tear through this list. Maybe consider Cry of the Carnarium , Golden Demise and/or Ritual of Soot . Dunno how I feel about Tibalt's Rager , Footlight Fiend feels better in this deck considering you have no 1 cmc cards. Although, to be honest, more mainboard Thought Erasure / Angrath's Rampage s seem even better then both.

Hi! Re-reading my comment and yours I realized a couple things. The first one is that I think one The Elderspell in the main, but not two. It’s a very good card but probably you don’t want it super often. Maybe another in the side for the mirror match, or another superfiends deck. Also I relalized you have Thief of Sanity in the side. I’ve played agains Esper midrange with Hero of Precinct One and in that case Golden Demise is much better, in that you want both cards out of the sideboard maybe, you’re probably right in that sense!

Hi! It looks like a pretty cool deck idea. The ceiling of this deck looks pretty insane. However I don't see a lot of answers against Aggro, so my suggestion would be towards that direction. If your meta has a ton of control this looks pretty effective with stuff like Angrath or Davriel, and also Carnival / Carnage .

But if you run against White Weenie or Mono-Red I think this deck can loose pretty fast, my suggestion would be to include more removal and even cheap efficient one. You have a ton of hand attack, so maybe a would cut the three Duress or maybe two, and increase the Carnival/Carnage. Other options would be including Moment of Craving (the life gain can be obnoxious for your opponent) or Cast Down which is unconditional and pretty good against Golgari or Sultai Stompy. I would maybe even consider running a couple board wipes in the main deck, the ones on your sideboard are good, specially Ritual of Soot

Finally, as Sideboard goes I don't see the benefit of Golden Demise over Cry of the Carnarium , you have very little creatures and they live through those sweepers. Also I think I would include at least one The Elderspell in the main. This deck seems like it has a pretty long game, and being able to cash in Narset Davriel and whatnot to get a Nicol Bolas or Liliana ultimate seems amazing!

I'll keep an eye on this list, it seems super cool, and I was thinking of something similar myself. Have fun brewing! :D

-Arcanity- that's exactly what I was pointing out it's hard to withstand if you play your sac catalyst early game. And will slow down your mid-range. Have you played live at a FNM or MTG online? If so, how'd you fare? It just seems hard for this deck to withstand something like Golden Demise or Fiery Cannonade .

Which leads me to answer your question as to why I run the indestructible, scry 1 for 1 drop in my Mardu deck.

Thanks for the quick comments hydrothermia! I think Golden Demise is better than Cry of the Carnarium , but just for this deck, since I can get Treasures if I have Revel in Riches out and destroy/kill creatures rather than exile them. I agree about needing more draw. I do have 3 Consecrate / Consume , but I may try to get a few Revitalize in there too. It's just tough with no creatures, feels like I need to go wild on the defense spells (destroy/exile).

Ah, yes the Revel in Riches enchantment. I personally gave up on it ages ago due to it ending up as a dead card for me on a number of instances, granted that was on paper and not Arena. Are you basing this off of the Best of One matching on Arena? If not, a sideboard wouldn't be a bad idea.

On your Maybeboard, I feel like Revitalize is a must. The only card draw you have is through the locket and Treasure Cove s. Sometimes you'll have to dig for answers and there isn't enough card draw for my liking.

I don't know if you have tried it yet, but Golden Demise might be a better fit than Cry of the Carnarium . Golden Demise lets your Revel in Riches net you treasure tokens.

Hey WarriorMagic,

The problem that your deck have is that it is a Tier1 deck, and is harder to make good suggestions.

But I have suggestions!

  • Llanowar Elves : With Hydroid Krasis ramp is very important, and also with it you can accelerate your mana curve more than it seems.

  • Cry of the Carnarium in the sideboard instead of Golden Demise , because normally you use this cards against aggro decks, and if you cast one of that cards fast to stop your aggro oponent, it is difficult for you to have the City's Blessing, and I think that is best exile your opponent's creatures just in case they use something to reanimate them.

  • Thrashing Brontodon in the sideboard, because it is good against every deck that uses Artifacts or Enchantments, and also it can destroy one of your greatest enemies: Curious Obsession .

I hope I help you,

TheSimikBOat :D
