Primer is fully operational (and hopefully typo-free!). The deck is as resilient and efficient as I know possible, for the direction that I am building this in.

I now consider this deck retired, but that does not mean that I won't continue to update it. If I discover any card or a new set offers a new card that fits the deck, I will of course add it. Anything to make this deck as oppressive and heavy as the Hammer of Purphoros itself!

Strionic Resonator would be better. It is 2 cost and matches with every trigger card in your deck, not just creature/artifact etb triggers.

It does only activate once, but one well placed copy is very very nice.

It+Panharmonics is a decent but not overpowered combo, but I think Strionic is clearly the better choice.

Thanks for the comment, Staizer! I actually had Strionic Resonator in the beginning, but I never had "big" enough triggers, or anything that did enough work. I don't think I'll be putting it back in, but I'll look into it again and if it does its work, it'll be in for good.

Thanks for the comment!

Use it with most of your tutors...

It would really only be good with Goblin Matron in that regard, because Goblin Recruiter already gets whatever I want. Again, it just wasn't powerful enough when I first tried it. I'll run it through testing again and if it makes it, it makes it.

freakingShane, you should add in Nim Deathmantle for another infinite combo. It works like this: 1. Have Nim Deathmantle and Ashnod's Altar on field. 2. Cast Beetleback Chief/Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker/Mogg War Marshal/Siege-Gang Commander. 3. Use Ashnod's Altar to sac one of said creatures and a token for 4 mana, then use that mana for the Nim Deathmantle ability. You get the picture right?

I like the combo, but I don't think this one is for me, puddingface@95. I am not huge on artifacts (I find them too easily removable), as you can see with the number of artifacts versus enchantments that I run.

I prefer creature combos, especially when they are only goblin combo pieces and I can protect them by cheating the cards out or with Cavern of Souls.

Again good combo, just not for me! Thank you for your insight and comment though! :)

May o suggest Obliterate instead of apocalypse? Or Jokulhaups

Also Chancellor of the Forge

Great comment, venok! In my "first" update I actually mention how I'm debating/on the fence about replacing Apocalypse with either Obliterate or Blasphemous Act. My only problem with Obliterate is its CMC...it brings me close to, or above, 3 avg. CMC and I don't like that. I love how it can't be countered though! It is something that may definitely return and replace Apocalypse, but not quite yet, my man!

As for Chancellor of the Forge, I'm not too fond. I had similar cards to him in my original design, but it was a little slow for my taste and those cards are often targeted too much.

Again, thanks for the comment! Obliterate may definitely pop back in, so bear with me and stay tuned in case that day comes!

Hey, I didn't notice it up there, but Panharmonicon from kaladesh works SUPER well with Purphoros. It makes his ability trigger twice each time, and and other guys (Siege-Gang Commander) produce twice the tokens, so about 4x the ETB damage in that case.

freakingShane says... #10

Many people have suggested that, but so far it has purposely not been in my deck. It's on the more expensive CMC side and I haven't found something I'm 100% content with taking out for it,

buuuuuuut you may have been the toppling stone, haha. I'll put it in my "Possible Additions" section and thoroughly test it in the place of multiple other cards.

Thanks for swinging by and leaving a comment!

How much does it cost if no cards are foil?

November 20, 2016 11 p.m.

freakingShane says... #12

Median prices for everything non-foil is at most $238.21.

Depending on where you get the cards, the sets, and the condition (Near Mint, Slight Play, Moderate Play, etc.) will change the prices further.

I'd say around the high $100 to low $200 range, Chickens_are_awesome.

I'm working on this deck too.. i would add a Boseiju, Who Sheltters All, it really help when u need not to get countered, tested and makes huge combos work amazing, specially when u cast low cost spells who doesnt take any attencion and then Empty the warrens

freakingShane says... #15

That's actually a good suggestion, my man. I've been aware of Boseiju, Who Shelters All for a long time but never tested it in here once.

I'll give it a shot and see how it goes, MaChoRyS!

Yep, and still another great reason to run Torpor Orb

December 9, 2016 12:48 a.m.

freakingShane says... #19

You are right about that, CrapdosNoob. A great thing is is that people don't run that too terribly often because they want their own ETBs to come off.

Worse comes to worse, this deck gets played as a fast goblin tribal deck and still gets work done! It's always good having different ways to play a deck. :)

(Well, others might not like this deck having a different strategy, haha)

Hey, i keep on running the deck and have a few more suggestions, first, apocallypse didn't really worked for me, i prefer blasphemous act and keep my hand. And second i would replace Goblin Balloon Brigade with Chandra Spitfire, it becomes a 10/3 flyer just by having purph on the battlefield and triggering his abillity with 3 tokens. (Sry for my english, i'm from argentina xD)

You should add a Goblin Rabblemaster in as well.

First off, I have to say, this is absolutely one of the best commander decks I've ever used in my entire time of playing magic. Thanks for this absolutely amazing deck. But, I have a couple card suggestions you could possibly add/review for the deck. I was looking around for some goblin cards and I believe both Bloodmark Mentor and Goblin Warchief would help the deck in many valuable aspects such as getting cards out alot faster and making sure that when you swing your army at a person, they're hesitant to block since they don't want their entire creature base to die due to first strike.

freakingShane says... #24

Sorry I have taken so long to reply, all!

MaChoRyS

I have Apocalypse specifically for the things that need exiling (e.g. if my opponent has indestructible or hexproof/shroud). Blasphemous Act is a great card, but I just need exiling in red, plus it can remove enchantments which is nearly impossible in mono-red.

As for Chandra's Spitfire, I still prefer Goblin Balloon Brigade because of the goblin tribal. I can also get him out on turn one instead of turn three. He really is good whenever you get out a Coat of Arms or something similar. Thank you for your suggestions, though!

AboveTail

I have never been a fan of Goblin Rabblemaster because he forces me to attack whether I am set up or not. I like to go wide to allow me to have blockers, and Rabblemaster kind of negates that strategy. If it weren't for that he'd be great!

Gamer0298

Thanks for the love, man! I really appreciate it! I actually have Goblin Warchief already in the deck, and you are right, he does get some work done. As for Bloodmark Mentor, I could see his importance but I don't know what would be a worthy switch. I don't know if I need first strike as bad as haste and unblockability (menace), but I'll see how he fairs! Thanks!

Gamer0298 says... #25

Sorry about that haha. Didn't realize Goblin Warchief was already in the deck. Thought I put that in there myself. But truly, I've never seen such a fast and powerful deck. In one game, I started off with Krenko, Mob Boss, Warren Instigator, Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker, and Goblin Piledriver I dropped out Instigator on the second turn. Third turn I swung and pulled out Kiki-Jiki and Krenko. I tapped Kiki to copy Krenko and doubled my goblins making 8 goblins. Next turn, I played piledriver, tapped Krenko to double my gobs, making 18, then made another copy of Krenko to double them once again for 36. The next turn I attacked with everything. B turn 4 I wiped out both players I was facing with a 81 attack piledriver and 40 goblins.
