I really like Boros. Please review and upvote my Aurelia Boros Voltron. +1 for your deck!!

This looks sweet. I love the flavor. I think Boros decks need a little love and a GoT theme is the way to do it. I immediatly thought of Gregor Clegane, The Mountain as Tajic, Blade of the Legion, Melisandre, The Red Witch as Magus of the Moon and Olenna Tyrell as Mother of Runes ... we need something to represent Tyrion.

JumboCommander: Thanks for your kind words! :)I'm so happy with the flavor, haha.

The deck description will soon reflect more of it - the angels are servants of the Seven, the dragons are on loan from the Targaryens (who want to destabilize their rivals in Paliano), Magmatic Chasm for the destruction of the Great Sept of Baelor, etc :D

Dwarven Nomad could reflect Tyrion, heh. He certainly wanders all over the Known World? ;) Or maybe Dwarven Trader, from his sister's perspective (heh, puns).

Give it a +1 if you like the flavor, haha.

I'd recommend finding room for a Sword of Feast and Famine to get further value from extra combats and have potential to infinite with Aggravated Assault and/or Hellkite Charger

jchudz: Definitely a good idea. I'll need to find another; my only copy (currently) is in my Judgment Day: Avacyn the Purifier EDH deck (which incidentally shares most of the same removal and landbase as well).

I don't think myriad works with melee very well, since they're put into play attacking whereas Melee triggers on declare attackers step.

In its place I humbly suggest Frontline Medic

Cloudchaser.Kestrel: No need to be humble! It's a great suggestions, and I need to find a place for it! :)

The interaction between Myriad and Melee is unclear at the moment, however (since there are no comprehensive rules for the latter). You get to order the two triggers in whichever direction you want, so even though there is definitely no way to have the Myriad-generated tokens get the boost, they may allow you to automatically max out your Melee bonus. It's somewhat unclear until they release the "official" comprehensive text of Melee.

Thanks for your comment and +1! I appreciate it :)

Particular thanks to aekrusty, JumboCommander, jchudz, and Casey4321 for their help with the deck and flavor! I had to hide their comments to circumvent a troll, but I want them to know their contributions have been appreciated :)

Shane.Allen: You told me to tag you when the first draft was complete, so here it is! It's not close to finished, though - I built the first draft in 20 minutes or so, so I need to fine-tune it significantly (to add better token generation and removal and draw, etc). Thoughts? :)

I like that deck looks fun to play, what about cards like Empty the Warrens, also I like Sword of Feast and Famine I think this deck could also use cards like Fury of the Horde. Also some extra removal like, Swords to Plowshares, and Crib Swap to take care of those really troublesome creatures.

Daedalus19876 says... #13

Shane.Allen: You're right, Empty the Warrens seems like a good idea, though I'm not casting enough spells to REALLY get the benefit off of it.

Fury of the Horde and Swords to Plowshares are great, but they're already in here :)

I've never been a fan of Crib Swap, though. If I'm looking for creature-only exiling removal, Swords/Path/Declaration are currently my go-to :)

Yeah, I do need to pick up another Sword of Feast and Famine (for the infinite combos and for the general utility). That only works well if I have some good sources of draw, though...What good, repeatable draw would you suggest in Boros colors?

Thanks for your comment! :)

I missed those two sorry I have a horrible headache today. Cards like Expedite are multi-purpose and theirs a bunch of them. Armistice is one, Mikokoro, Center of the Sea is another good one. Temple Bell

For draw effects in a boros deck like this your best options are probably cards like Mentor of the Meek, Book of Rass or Mind's Eye everything else is pretty much Howling Mine type effects that also give your opponents cards.

Shane.Allen says... #16

Mentor of the Meek would combo with your tokens entering the battlefield.

Daedalus19876 says... #17

jchudz and Shane.Allen: I agree that Mentor of the Meek is awesome, but he's already in here :)

Temple Bell (and its more expensive cousin Mikokoro, Center of the Sea) are handy, and I might have to make a spot for them. I've never been a fan of the one-time effects like Expedite (except in my Red Scare: Zada EDH deck), but Mind's Eye is great (but also expensive).

I'm also planning to add Declaration in Stone, Idyllic Tutor, Beetleback Chief, Goblin Assault, Goblin Rabblemaster, Monastery Mentor, Grasp of Fate, Tempt with Vengeance, and a few other cards. Plus, you know, actually doing something with mana rocks and the manabase.

Also it wouldn't feel right not to attach Super Smash Bros. Melee my version of your build in which I focus more on indestructable triggers.

Sorry for missing Mentor of the Meek and you're welcome for the other suggestions. Monastery Mentor is so good, he's a must-add. And Grasp of Fate is good if your meta is good for it, you have to be able to cast it and get rid of the good stuff on the table.

UPDATE: The deck has acquired some new cards, largely culled from things from Casey4321's and jchudz's decks. But now I need to find some things to cut, haha. Any suggestions?

I also want to make sure the deck can have a consistent curve, which it does not seem to have at the moment.

Thanks to everyone for their help so far!

Update: I see you already cut the Blade of Selves but I have confirmation Myriad doesn't work here.

Cloudchaser.Kestrel: Thanks for that confirmation. That's a shame, I would have liked to abuse that interaction haha.

This deck looks amazing. I'm planning on building an aggro deck to take a break from my Sydri combo deck and I wanted to know if I could use your list as a template.
