Playing Midrange
This Mardu deck relies on the power of discard from Hymn to Tourach, Hypnotic Specter, and of course Mind Twist. This list was constructed without any power cards like Black Lotus, and needs to quickly disrupt the opponent's gameplan in order to land larger midrange threats. After making your opponent discard a lot of answers, resilient threats like Sedge Troll and Serra Angel are usually enough to close out the game.
Serra Angel and Sengir Vampire are both flying creatures that cannot be easily killed by a Lightning Bolt or blocked by ground creatures. Swords to Plowshares can clear away any larger flying threats from the opponent to allow these creatures to quickly attack for the kill. Keeping the opponent off cards with Hypnotic Specter is also an easy way to close out the game.
Then of course, there's always the classic "Turn 1 play Library of Alexandria" way to win, which is even more prevalent in Atlantic Old School since Strip Mine is restricted. Dark Ritual can also be used to turbo out a giant Mind Twist early in the game.
With one Red Elemental Blast in the main, the other three can come in from the board to disrupt Blue.
Gloom is sided in for Disenchant against White Weenie.
Wrath of God, Balance, Nevinyrral's Disk, and Ivory Tower come in against other creature decks.
Divine Offering act as extra copies of Disenchant for the Mishra's Workshop matchup.
