Aether Revolt —Jan. 22, 2017

Only trying out one card from Aether Revolt in here: Exquisite Archangel. A solid beater that prevents me from dying to combat damage or life drain. Doesn't prevent loss from infect or commander damage though. I will try her out.

Wizno, thanks for all your suggestions. I threw in Darksteel Ingot and Exotic Orchard for extra mana fixing. I'll probably pick up the cycle of painlands too.

How do you feel about Forbidden Orchard for fixing? it kinda fits into the political theme of the deck. Not sure if I want to give my opponents chump blockers though.

Only reason Sol Ring isn't in here is because it's banned in my playgroup.

In terms of the stax pieces, I'm trying to keep this deck quite casual and political. I like the direction you took yours in though.

Toxic Deluge is a great boardwipe and it's in a few of my decks. In this deck I think I have enough boardwipes that get around indestructible with Merciless Eviction and Hallowed Burial. If I find the deck needs another boardwipe I'll be adding Toxic Deluge though.

What about Subterranean Tremors? Its both a wipe and artifact removal. I guess it depends on if there are any breya or daretti players in your meta

I think that Sunblast Angel would be another excellent payoff card for the cards Loxodon Gatekeeper, Authority of the Consuls, and Blind Obedience that are already in your deck.

This deck seems cool, but why no Crawlspace, Farsight Mask, Aurification, Dread, Gisela, Blade of Goldnight, or Michiko Konda, Truth Seeker? Some of those seem like pillow fort essentials, and with only 9 pillow fort cards in the deck (2 of which are Marchesa's Decree and Norn's Annex, which are some of the least effective pillow fort cards in a format with a starting life total of 40), it seems like if you really want to capitalize on the theme of pillow fort, then you will need to find room to add some more.

Secondly, I like the use of Luminarch Ascension, Ophiomancer, and maybe Bitter Feud in this deck, and I will be trying to add them into my Marchesa deck: Queen Marchesa: The Game of Thrones. Thank you!

MagicalHacker, thanks so much for your feedback. I upvoted your deck. Really like it.

I think you may be underestimating marchesa's decree. It steals the monarch back giving card draw. 1 life per creature attacking doesn't seem like a lot but it sure adds up quick against token or tribal decks. I agree with you that Norn's Annex is kinda weak though. Probably doesn't do enough for 5 mana.

The reason the deck has less pillow fort than yours is because it is more focused on the politics than purely pillow fort. I agree I could add a bit more though. Out of your suggestions I like Dread and Gisella the best. They give me beaters to help win the game while also pillow forting. I will try to pick up a copy of each.

No problem, glad I could help! And yeah maybe it's more that I tend to see players with a handful of big creatures instead of lots of little ones in my meta.

I scoured MagicalHacker - List of All Pillow Fort Cards for my favorites, so maybe you might find some more you like there.

Take care!

How about a Blazing Archon? No creature can even touch you.

Charlito, thanks for the suggestion. I had Blazing Archon in my original version of this deck. I found its 9 mana CMC is a bit too high though.
