Modern BR (Rakdos) Zombie

Creature (3)

This is my take on Joe Bernal's awesome BR Zombies list.

I think adding Rakdos Cackler is an overkill because there are already enough high-powered 1-drop creatures in this deck. I think that Vexing Devil, Gravecrawler, and Diregraf Ghoul are all more effective and versatile.

I also have fond that having a solid 2-drops are just as important in this deck as the 1-drops. I have Rakdos Shred-Freak because haste is incredibly valuable in a deck like this. I would 500% prefer Ash Zealot but I am afraid that I would not b able to have that second red mana fast enough. Vampire Interloper is a new card that I added recently, a 2-power flyer for 2 mana is great for this deck. it just soars over human decks and Selesnya decks and opponents are incredibly resistant to use removal on it. I have won a number games because of this card.

Thunderous Wrath, when miracled, is absolutely insane and almost guarantees a win.

-SIDEBOARDING-

Against Aggro decks:Add in the 4th Pillar of Flame from the sideboard, take out a shred-freak most likely. That's pretty much it, (unless they are a white aggro deck). This deck is faster than other aggro decks, so the Mainboard is sufficient.

Against White Decks:Board in 3 or 4 of the Knight of Infamy 's depending on how "white" their deck is. Usually take out either the shred-freak's or the Vampire Interloper s

Against Midrange Decks:Add in the 2 Appetite for Brains and possibly the extra Brimstone Volley . If their deck is fairly slow, add in 2 Underworld Connections

Against Control Decks:add in the Appetite for Brains and 2 or 3 Underworld Connections, take out the vampire interlopers and some Pillar of Flames.

If the deck has a lot of creature removal (Terminus, Supreme Verdict, etc) then take out 4 creatures ad add in the 4 burn spells from the side board.

Went 3-2

Round 1: Win (2-0) vs Splinterfright self mill

Round 2: Loss (0-2) vs GRW Midrange

Round 3: Loss (1-2) vs GW Midrange

Round 4: Win (2-1) vs Mono-Red Aggro

Round 5: Win (2-0) vs GW Humans (flicker)

I ran up against Thragtusk in round 2 and 3, I had to mulligan a bunch and keep pretty bad hands in 3 of 4 of my losses. I have since added more Thrag-Hate since the tournament. I added Appetite for Brains and more Slaughter Games to my sideboard. Centaur Healer + Restoration Angel is another problem, but not quite as common.
