Who plays Spellheart Chimera!? I do.

This is the first version of an experimental deck I have been kicking around lately. It's American control somewhat. I just wanted to kill people with Spellheart Chimera and you know what? It works.

Gameplan:

Use Izzet Charm, Azorius Charm, Steam Augury, and Jace, Architect of Thought to draw more cards and up the number of instants and sorcery cards in your graveyard.

Tempo out the game by using creature removal until you can land a Spellheart Chimera and protect it or you can just play out a Young Pyromancer and then play draw cards to constantly generate elemental chump blockers.

Boros Charm can be used to doublestrike your chimera or you can burn your opponent down and widdle them down bit by bit with Magma Jet and plinking them with assloads of tokens. Whatever works.

Side Board and Why.

  • Boros Reckoner Helps against early beat down aggro decks. He's a great trader by blocking a creature, killing it, and redirecting it's damage to another creature to kill it. Or you can be careful and activate his first strike to defend and widdle down their creature count while you burn the rest during your turn.

  • Catch / Release Is mostly cast as just Catch. I love this care for sideboard to help contend against enemy planewalkers nearing ultimate. "Oh hey, you're one turn away from cracking off Kiora, the Crashing Wave 's ultimate, huh? Nope... I'm going take her, use her ult, kill her in the process." Of course, you can use it to steal a beaffy creature and swing at them with it. All in all, it's a very versatile card because it allows you to take a PERMANENT.

  • Counterflux I'm not sold on this card as a singleton. I have it to help sometimes with a control match up. With the amount of draw I have in the deck, I'll save it for when U/W control drops a win condition.

  • Deicide Just something that rids gods really well. Also, given these sets are now enchantment creature heavy, it can be subbed in for removal against anyone using troublesome enchantment creatures like Herald of Torment , Aegis of the Gods , or Master of the Feast.

  • Dissolve In case I need just a wee bit more counter spells.

  • Pithing Needle Stops Pack Rat and planeswalkers.

  • Reprisal My answer to Mistcutter Hydra and Desecration Demon and just about anything else that is big.

  • Wear / Tear Will take out troublesome artifacts like Godsend, Whip of Erebos or enchantments.... or enchantment creatures.

Work In Progress. Tell me what you think thus far!
