Esper Rack Version 1.1

Modern 8-Rack WUB (Esper)

Hey, I'm the 3-color rack guy, or as most people who know me by this title call me, Otter, or Terminal Anxiety. My goal is to make Every 3 color combination that includes black in 8 rack. Crazy right? Well we are going to make it work.

WHY ESPER

Okay, so the main reason to actually splash white and blue as opposed to one or the other is Teferi, Time Raveler. This card is nuts in general, and for 8 rack it makes no exception. We can discard people on their draw step, and do all sorts of crazy things. With T3feri's -3 ability, we could target our opponents Chalice of the Void on 1, and then discard it with a spell like Thoughtsieze: to deal with it. Or we could even bounce Snapcaster Mage to our hand to do more dumb things, like recast Kaya's Guile. Don't get me started on Kaya's Guile theres a reason there is 4 in the 75. Splashing into white and blue gives us the ability to run the bomb removal spell Prismatic Ending and the nice U/B card that we all love Drown in the Loch. We also keep the mono black staples like Liliana of the Veil, Raven's Crime and other cool cards. Oh and of course our main wincon The Rack and Shrieking Affliction. Urza's Saga Can be a wincon with karnstructs, or just fetch answers or even The Rack!

So that's great and all but what about the sideboard?

Leyline of the Void is our grave hate. Side it in against any deck that utilizes the graveyard a ton. We are weak to that. Kaya's Guile number 3-4, and Collective Brutality are for the red decks like burn and prowess. Take out Thoughtsiezes: first in those matchups. Void Mirror seems like its for tron, but it is not. E-tron, sure but any colored variant can get around it. That is why we run Damping Sphere and Ceremonious Rejection (all though rejection does work with colorless decks too). Void mirror shuts of colorless decks that have no colored sources, but more importantly it shuts of 0 CMC spells. Such as anything someone cascades into, or Living End. Damn is your stereotypical sweeper but is also spot removal sometimes! And can be at instant speed with t3feri!

Version 1.1 Changes -1 Damnation -1 Esper Charm -1 Swamp -1 Watery Grave -2 Bloodchief's Thirst +1 Inquisition of Kozilek +2 Drown in the Loch +2 Creeping Tar Pit +1 Damn Finally, I am always open to suggestions and tweaking these decks. Links to the other lists will start to be added shortly.
