Yabuki, the card has a three-fold job. if I have a hand with 2xForest 1xPlains and a Fabled Hero , I can be sure that with Nylea's Presence , I'll have the correct mana to cast it.

It also serves as slight dig, which could be unnecessary if replaced with a stronger card.

But it does add to my enchantment count with Ethereal Armor . I don't think it's the weakest card in the deck (Silence takes that in my mind). Do you have any suggestions for a replacement?

I think the deck is well rounded and Silence is neither weak nor a wasted slot. In tight spot it can keep your opponent from casting during their turn or yours. I have been play testing this and it works nicely.Well done.

I wasn't sure if you were using it to cycle and boots Ethereal Armor in which case Chosen by Heliod would provide a slight functionality bonus.

If just for the enchantment Gift of Orzhova would fill a gap

For your sideboard Fade into Antiquity would be better than Sundering Growth even though the cost is higher, the exile works on those pesky indestructible gods.

I LOVE Silence , cast it during your opponent's draw phase and it is the ultimate in control.Versus a deck with few instants or creature effects its almost a second turn.

i am going to give this deck a go, can't wait to try it

Quadsimotto, I'm glad you like the deck, but there are times I wish I had a creature card instead of Silence in hand. (Most times) I'm considering running some number of Nylea, God of the Hunt , Witchstalker , and Gladecover Scout . I think perhaps Yabuki had a point in asking a question about Nylea's Presence , but time will tell for sure. I'll test it out for a while with some changes.

If my newer decks don't do too well, (a reanimator and a hydra deck, both very expensive so far :/) then i definitely see myself running something like this, G/W aggro has some amazing decks so far, but this is by far one of the simplest, yet impressive ones i've seen.

One question is wouldn't Spear of Heliod be alot better than Heliod, God of the Sun himself since it gives creatures +1/+1 and can destroy creatures that hurt you as opposed to just vigilance and 2/1 tokens? Or does the vigilance just help out THAT much? Or maybe Nylea, God of the Hunt since she's also indestructible, might be easier to get devotion from green to activate her, AND she giver your creatures trample which takes care of the damage problem,

Yabuki, good call on Fade into Antiquity , gods are becoming a definite thing, and I have very little use for populate effects. Chosen by Heliod is strong, 10 life is nothing to joke at, but it also falls off very quickly, and doesn't help Ethereal Armor for very long. Gift of Orzhova feels weak to me, but perhaps that's because I played a MBC with Vampire Nighthawk . Hopeful Eidolon fills almost the same spot...Lifelink, +1/+1, just no flying, but 1 mana more. But it remains a creature if it is destroyed, and can be used as a critter on T1, and that flexibility is huge for me.

I agree that Silence is the ultimate in control, it's a giant F/U to so many decks, but in my meta Bloodrush effects are huge, and Silence doesn't stop those. Also, my deck needs to be more of a mid-range aggro deck, not a control deck, and that's why it feels out of place to me. I think it would be better off as removal or another creature. Smite and Celestial Flare both come to mind as great removal.

acousticcancer, Heliod, God of the Sun is amazing because he does pump out those enchantments, which gives me threats late game if necessary, but yes, the vigilance is HUGE. Nothing worse than swinging with a 15/15 double strike lifelink Fabled Hero only to be chump blocked, combat tricked into doing no damage, and not having a blocker. I generally only run out a single creature at a time, so keeping a blocker is a pretty big deal.

I'm strongly considering Nylea, God of the Hunt for that single word...TRAMPLE. On her own, I think she's garbage, but a static trample effect on all my creatures, as well as fitting the enchantment theme and working with Ethereal Armor and Oath of the Ancient Wood makes her a tad more valuable in my deck particularly.

Also, with the Spear of Heliod the active is a bit too pricey for me, and as I mentioned earlier, I rarely have more than one creature out, so 3 mana for that single critter to have +1/+1 seems wasted to me.

Yabuki, I thought for a moment we were talking about Ordeal of Heliod , not Chosen by Heliod . I think that in a contest between Nylea's Presence and Chosen by Heliod I'd have to chose Nylea's Presence , simply because the early game mana fixing, and the fact that it is a more permanent enchantment (creatures die to removal all the time, but lands are rarely removed).

Chosen by Heliod not Ordeal of Heliod to keep the card draw

I know its not a great suggestion but how about Bow of Nylea its low CMC its an enchantment and it is in my opinion over powered and useful in the deck.

Quadsimotto, the Bow of Nylea isn't a bad suggestion at all, it's an enchantment, with a number of powerful actives, but I think that it's static ability is best when Nylea, God of the Hunt is out. Deathtouch + Trample is too OP. I may try to find room for it in the future, but not until she's in the deck.

Not a bad suggestion at all =D

I was trying my hand at a G/W enchantment deck, I passed over Alpha Authority , do you find it coming in handy over say an additional creature or aggresive type enchantment?

October 2, 2013 8:01 a.m.

Tyqar says... #13

chandlerwrx06 very much so. The major weakness of this deck is that it completely falls over to any type of removal. Alpha Authority (and the card I'm testing now, Witchstalker ) both attempt to prevent spot removal, and do a damn good job of it.

chandlerwrx06 says... #14

I was using Witchstalker and Gladecover Scout as my hexproof bodies to buff up and trying to avoid letting alpha take up a spot. I have seen too many alpha authoritys get Golgari Charm ed. or Detention Sphere ed. Hmm maybe I will take anothing look at it. thanks

October 2, 2013 8:06 a.m.

Tyqar says... #15

chandlerwrx06 the Alpha Authority might eat a Golgari Charm or a Detention Sphere , but isn't that MUCH better than losing, say, an Ethereal Armor to one?

Or, if you're running enchantment creatures like Hopeful Eidolon and Boon Satyr , they could have eaten the hate, but instead, Alpha Authority took the heat. It's a tradeoff...make them use more cards to get rid of your threats so you can get 2-for-2'd but not 2-for-1'd.

Hopefully that makes sense, lol.

Yeah it does, its not a strategy Im used to playing. I use blitz or control. Youve givin me some great ideas thanks man!

Ive ran a number of G/W decks recently, and Unflinching Courage is amazing, it gives you trample, which is a huge bonus, lifelink, and 2/2 all for 3 cmc. Ive played that many a time turn 3 on a Fencing Ace to swing in for a huge amount of damage. Witchstalker is another good choice, the hexproof allows a safe(er) body to place auras on. And have you considered maybe adding in some mana ramp? Like a few Elvish Mystic ? 1 mana dorks really helped me in the past (farewell Avacyn's Pilgrim ) And Nylea's Presence is a pretty decent replacement for Abundant Growth , which will also be missed. You could consider maybe running a few Chained to the Rocks to take advantage of turning your enchanted land into all land types? I like the deck, I might try something similar in nature to it. Check out mine if you want Selesnya Hexproof post rotation

i did not see that the creatures were 2/1 cleric ENCHANTMENT tokens...thats just ridiculous, makes me like this deck that much more. And I didn't see that you only had one creature out at a time...so what do you do then, do you just keep pumping that one creature till it dies?

October 2, 2013 7:36 p.m.

Tyqar says... #20

Essentially, yes, I do just pump that single creature. It works better that way in my opinion, especially once that single guy is hexproof, they have to use a board clear effect for a single critter, then i run out another one.

Also!

fijord, that is truly something I never even considered! I was just about to pull Nylea's Presence out of my deck, but the realization that it makes them into all land types, not just adding any color is pretty big. I will have to consider this as removal. Thanks for the tip!
