Card Breakdown - Creatures
One drops
This deck runs 13 one drops which is about standard among modern creature heavy decks. The bulk of my creatures are between this and the 2 drop slot.
Champion of the Parish x4 : One of the best one drops white has to offer. This creature is a wonderful threat early game and if it survives, late game since it grows bigger overtime. I run 4 although as you will see later on that I do run other non-human creatures.
Kytheon, Hero of Akros
x2: Another sweet card, despite my disdain for Gideon, this one has proven it's worth. He does so much just for one mana. Great early game threat and wonderful late game blocker and when he transforms he becomes even better, I can chose to force one of your creatures to attack, make one of mine indestructible or attack with a 4/4 that cannot be stopped. One mana for a 4/4 is all good by me.
Thraben Inspector x3 : This card is a recent addition to this deck. I was skeptical at first when it came out, but now that I have tried it, I don't mind it and it has proven pretty useful. It's human which helps champion and other cards as well as provide card draw is pretty nice. Having 2 toughness is surprisingly good when it comes to blocking and if it gets bigger becomes invaluable, I like it.
Dauntless Bodyguard x4 : When this card was spoiled I was super thrilled about it. Overall it's okay early game, makes my early plays much harder to deal with. Fun in standard fun in modern too.
Two drops
White has so many great 2 mana humans, the nes I've gotten are pretty aggressive and they have all impressed me and I am so proud.
Consul's Lieutenant x4 : First off, probably one of my favorite humans to ever be printed(next to Teysa ofc) This guy that is a 2/1 with first strike for two mana that becomes a 3/2 pseudo lord for the team when it is renown. It is nothing short of amazing.
Thalia, Guardian of Thraben x 3 : What can I say about Thalia? She's just good, 2/1 first strike that makes it harder to cast spells that deal with her. Human if you couldn't tell. Having three of her in the deck (possibly should be 4) puts a thorn in control deck's sides and thanks to first strike makes her a fine blocker
Thalia's Lieutenant x4 : This is probably another one of the best cards in the deck. It comes down and boost almost all my other creatures and then gets bigger herself. It combos well with champion making it get 2 counters instead of 1 as well with herself. It's not that good on a clear board but otherwise it's great.
Three drops
Bygone Bishop x2 : Although not a human it is a a very useful source of card advantage for white. With Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx several cards could be drawn in a turn. Also 2/3 flying isn't bad when it comes to defense.
Benalish Marshal x4 : A great addition to the deck. Adds so much devotion to the deck while pumping the team, and since he's human Thalia's Lieutenant gets to boost him as well. Essentially he's like copies 5-8 of lieutenant that can provide pressure by himself.
Seven drop
Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite x2 : Ah the white queeen herself, the boss of the deck. She's not a human but something way greater and much more powerful. Everything in the deck is there for her and she divines her blessings onto all the other creatures by giving them +2+2 and curses my opponents' creatures with -2-2. If you don't know about her already, she can win games all by her self and I'm not one who is against hard casting her for 7 since the pay off is usually so worth it. She has vigilance and is 4/7 making her really hard to kill by battle if not nearly impossible due to her ability. One of my all time favorite cards in magic history. If she ever gets another card I just might find someway to fit it in this deck. Thanks to the new inclusions it's possible to drop her on turn 4 and say bye-bye to my opponent's bored and their life total, truly magnificent.
Card Breakdown - non-creatures
Instants
Path to Exile x4 :Basically a format staple in white and since very few of my creatures can kill other creatures outside of battle save for the mother of machines, it's pretty important so I can deal with my opponent's threats.
Brave the Elements x2 : Just for protection against some sweepers and can help push through damage to win the game quicker. Really impressed with this card it essentially can be a counter spell, creature removal, or a pseudo wrath by making it as though my opponent's creatures don't exist. Awful against colorless decks near useless.
lands
Shefet Dunes 2x : just to fill out the land slot and can help close out games a turn earlier if I have it.
Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx x3 : Hands down the most important land in the deck and is the easiest way to drop Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite turns earlier. Combos with Bygone Bishop when I have enough devotion, i can draw 3+ cards a turn which is usually game wining on it's own. I run 3 instead of 4 because although i do want it early, it s legendary and i have a lot of in the deck so I do need plains first before this.
Eiganjo Castle x1 : random land is random, comes untapped, produces W, makes my deck worse against blood moon. Is okay I guess. Could just be another plains
Lastly 16 Plains to fill out the deck. In all I run 21 lands not bad for a semi aggressive deck.
Sideboard
My good match-ups are usually small creature decks or slow creature decks. My bad match-ups are decks that are faster than me (burn) don't care what i'm doing (Scapeshift), has a plethora of answers to my creatures ( GB rock, jeskai control, jund) and combo decks (Tron, scapeshift, ur breach{god i hate this deck}, and adnausim). My so-so match-ups are Big creature decks ( Grixis shadow in shadow's favor, Ekdrazi tron if i can't go wide enough, colorless eldrazi in their favor) However despite my bad match-ups the deck can go wide-enough and fast enough to the face that it does not matter. My sideboard is here to help try to stop my opponent for at least a turn enough for my creatures to deal lethal.
Fragmentize x2 : Not bad artifact/ enchantment hate. I have been swinging between this and Disenhant since the latter can deal with hollow one but is worse with Thalia on the board. More testing will be needed.
Auriok Champion x2 : God I hate the art on this, I can't wait for Iconic masters to come out. It's here because it's human, and without a doubt a good card. I had Kor Firewalker in this slot but auriok just has better match ups. Where kor is only good against burn and maybe storm, this can go outside of burn and is good against other creature decks and for grixis control and gets pumped by Thalia's Lieutenant, and has 2 for nykthos.
Mirran Crusaderx2 : I'm not fully pleased that I'm running this card but it is truly good and I can take solace in the fact that he has been completed so he works for norn now. Great card pro green and black which beats two of the strongest creatures in modern, Tarmogoyph and Death's shadow while providing a quick clock. Paladin is another card that can do his job although a bit slower but pro red is great against pyroclasim and anger of the gods
Damping Sphere x2: Another great addition from Dom. It is a non-bo with nykthos but againts the decks that I bring this in I usually just side elesh out since she more than likely she won't have much impact anyway such as tron, storm, and adnausem.
Leyline of Sanctity x2: I finally got my hands on this card and my hopes is that it provides enough protection against some combo decks and discard heavy decks like Jund or storm I can pull out a win in the end.
Rest in Peace x2 : Graveyard hate, simply so, good against delver, dredge, everything.
Stony Silence x2 : When you think of sideboard hate rip and stony often are among to pup up. Super good against lantern, affinity among others. Non-bo with Bygone Bishop and Thraben Inspector but they're fine threats on their own so it's usually not that big of a deal.
Repel the Abominable x1 : A card I hope would be able to protect both myself and my creatures from burn heavy decks. Some of my most feared cards when using this deck are Pyroclasm,Anger of the Gods, and Valakut, the molten pinacle. Brave the Elements would be fine against the first two and but against colorless sources such as Valakut, and eldrazi Repel can help. Even against decks like storm if Leyline of Sanctity isn't on board It's possible I can stop them for at least a turn. Maybe it's not worth the 1-2 spots but there's no harm in trying.
