interesting choices , although I am curious why not run Mavren Fein, Dusk Apostle and diabolic intent ? I feel as though Diabolic intent is better since you have good token production.

Thanks for the comment and suggestion. I am not running Mavren Fein, Dusk Apostle because I did not know about him. He's definitely going in.

I have a Diabolic Intent in a G/B skeleton that i'm building up, but you're right it does fit well here, much better than cruel tutor anyhow.

Thanks!

On a side note, I need to write up a deck guide since there's a ton of wincons in this deck.

Np , I've built looked into and tried to build Edgar Markov before ( although the one I was trying to build was more of a stax build, so it wasn't pure vampires.) I also found contamination to be very good in the deck since the token production offsets the cost by a decent amount. if you need any advice on the deck let me know. I would be more then happy to help :D .

Hello hadakou I looked at Contamination, but I felt like it went against some of the other cards in the deck like Chromatic Lantern.

I can see how it is a nice black version of Blood Moon though. I'll probably stick it in the SB though.

Thanks!

@hadakou, btw the reason for not MB Contamination is because I don't think my curve is low enough to cast it early enough to make a difference. If I was playing tons of cheap vamps with a huge go wide strategy then maybe, but I'm kinda going for a battleship type deck. In general, it can double as go wide, but it can finish with Dark Depths' Marit lage, or something else that's silly huge if it needs to (e.g. buffed flying vamps). I think my curve is a bit too high to flood the board with edgar tokens on it's own (That's why I'm also using Anointed Procession).

batlleship style ? Sorry I don't know what that means lol. I understand though , mine has a side win con of beating down. I used sanctum seeker which drains each opponent for 1 life for each vampire production with a decent amount of token production, which I do under contamination to lock people from answering it.

Sorry, I think the proper term is actually "BattleCruiser"? Mistyped that earlier.

In any case, yeah Necropolis Regent, Dark Depths, Nirkana Revenant, Kalitas, Bloodchief of Ghet, Olivia Voldaren, big Exsanguinate, etc. All would be huge mana costs, but the vamp tokens kinda serve as either beat down or fodder.

@phDaemon, in your Winning Conditions section, you have Stripmine, which is a deck list and not the card Strip Mine. Unless that was deliberate?

Have you considered running Reconnaissance? It allows you to attack with everyone safely then untap everyone at the most opportune time for pseudo vigilance while still dealing combat damage in most situations.

It untaps to avoid bad blocks, it untaps after first strike damage but before normal combat damage (crazy good with Stromkirk Captain/Drana Liberator of Malakir), and it even untaps after normal combat damage is dealt due to the creature being an 'attacking' creature until the end of combat step ends (you untap in the middle of this step).

Feel free to check out my list for ideas. Feedback, upvotes, or ideas on any of my decks is appreciated. Edgar's Dega Vampires

With this low of a mana curve, you should try Scapegoat . It's a very real answer to a meta with -1/-1 counters, -X/-X, sac, exile, and tuck type boardwipes and you get your eminence triggers again. I'd much rather sac a token and eat a personal Evacuation than end up in topdeck mode post boardwipe.

Thanks for the suggestion! I agree with the meta having quite a bit of removal. It is always recommended to not overextend. In Edgar decks, keeping some creature spells in your hand is easy since you get value out of the tokens.

In a similar train of thought for a solution, I figured that I like to recast creatures to get the Edgar effect. The support cards I play to mitigate board wipes and to help with recursion are:

(Although I prefer to use the following offensively)

And of course in the sideboard, if expecting a removal heavy meta:

Ultimately, I am opting for items that can have utility outside of just board wipe evasion and have more functionality.

I will add a section breaking down into groups the cards, as well as pictures possibly tonight.

Have you considered Mirror Entity ?

How about changing higher cost Vampires like Vampire Nighthawk to lower cost like Pulse Tracker or Vicious Conquistador?

Also since you have Blood Artist and new vampire with similar effect getting printed in War of the Spark I'd suggest running Goblin Bombardment since in case of a boardwipe you can take down someone with a little more damage and these triggers

Thanks for the suggestions!

The point of Vampire Nighthawk is that he is highly functional and not just a body. With death touch he doubles as removal, with flying he can beat down hard, and with lifelink he's relevant against burn type decks. The curve is already very low, and this is not meant to be a 1v1 version of Edgar.

Cruel Celebrant (The new vamp you're talking about) might actually end up replacing Blood Artist in this deck since this deck does not contain the loop that makes blood artist go infinite.

First off, I want to say that the deck is brilliant! Kudos!

I do have a concern, though. TappedOut says you have 100 cards, but the numbers clearly add up to 116. I don’t know why the dissonance there, but what would you cut to get down to 100?

phDaemon says... #25

Abzkaban thanks for pointing that out.

It looks like it took my sideboard and merged it into the deck along with my maybe cards...not sure how or why that happened.
