Commander Legends adjustments —Nov. 28, 2020

Got my hands on some Commander Legends pieces that are, to my mind, auto includes in a deck such as this.

Replaced:

Venser, the Sojourner with Maralen of the Mornsong;

Deepglow Skate with Hullbreacher;

Rishadan Footpad with Opposition Agent;

Wall of Omens with Lavinia, Azorius Renegade;

Oath of Jace with Necropotence;

Miscast with Negate;

Day of Judgment with Terminus; and

Caves of Koilos with Glacial Fortress

Haven’t been able to test how the changes will affect the deck’s gameplay but I hope these additions improve the deck’s consistency in terms of getting that soft-lock in place early in the game. I’ll be replacing Counterspell with Mana Drain as soon as I get one cheap.

TMS and SDT have not been as impactful as I hope they would so I might be replacing them soon. I’m currently looking at Scroll Rack as a possible replacement for SDT.

Why do you run Teferi, Time Raveler? It means that only you have the option to interact with your opponents, and you are only running three counterspells. Also, why only run three counterspells? Why Counterspell over Mana Drain? Competitive decks, even stax-focused ones, generally should run more than three. Negate, Spell Pierce, Flusterstorm, Fierce Guardianship, Delay, and Force of Negation are all common good ones. Why are you running Windfall but not/instead of Timetwister? I don't see your deck caring about its graveyard. Since you have a subtheme of wheels, why not run Smothering Tithe and Alms Collector? Or Whispering Madness for extra density? Furthermore, you deck needs a real, tangible, hard win condition. Simply locking your opponents is not enough to win at a competitive table. Why not include Demonic Consultation and/or Tainted Pact and Thassa's Oracle and/or Jace, Wielder of Mysteries? Solid wincon that doesn't require long games to win, but works just fine in them.

goldlion Wishclaw Talisman is probably in there because of its interaction with Aminatou. -1 Aminatou targeting Talisman, activate Talisman in response, then Aminatou's flicker resolves. Unlimited tutors that cost {1} apiece. Avarice Totem is bad.

Cornelius_1216 thank you very much for the feedback. I’m actually veering away from fast, cEDH combos this time around and the lack of a real win-con is by design. I’m sorry if the deck still has the “competitive” tag. It really isn’t. My meta has powered down a lot and i’m following suit. I’m just trying to build a stax deck that wins via submission and modesty aside, it has performed better than expected.

I do plan on adding Smothering Tithe at some point. I just haven’t found the slot for it. Whispering Madness was just taken out but I will give it another try. As for Teferi, it’s there mainly to lock opponents out (with Narset+Puzzle Box).

Do you see anything in the list that sticks out -easy cuts, odd includions? Please let me know.

Oh and as for Timetwiser, I have this deck on paper and I really can’t afford the card. Same reason why Tundra is not on the list. Only got 1 kidney to sell to fund the hobby lol

Megalomania powering down your meta and deck, and forgetting to remove the competitive tag, explains everything I was wondering about lol. I figured you probably couldn't afford the twister (same), but most people are fine with proxies in competitive, so I didn't understand. Thanks for answering my question and now that I have casual in mind, cool deck!
