A ramp heavy legendary matters deck could really abuse Heroes' Podium. Reki, the History of Kamigawa would be another great value piece. God-Eternal Rhonas and Zopandrel, Hunger Dominus would be really good finishers. And you access to Time of Need. With enough druids, Seton, Krosan Protector seems neat.

Some ideas:

  • Dense Foliage: a hug option. If you aim for everyone's monsters (including) yours to die in glorious combat, it wouldn't do if someone could off them with spells.
  • Dictate of Karametra: more hug. Everyone has plenty of mana to cast their big creatures.
  • Fecundity: aaaaand more hug. Ensures that the death of any creature results in more opportunities to cast other big creatures.
  • Heartbeat of Spring: more mana for everyone!
  • Ghalta, Primal Hunger: seems to make sense in a green BC-deck.
  • Soul of the Harvest: such great draw in a deck featuring this many creatures. And a nice beat-stick to boot.
  • Vigor: opposing creatures can't hurt your creatures anymore; they can only strengthen them!
  • Zopandrel, Hunger Dominus: ensures the strength/toughness of your BC's beat those of the opponents' BC's.

Have fun with the brew!

For a set that I had my doubts about, the spoilers are knocking it out of the park from a LotR lore perspective. Whomever is behind set design really seems like a fan of the books and this whole set feels like a love letter to the IP. Using Saga's to tell stories from Tolkien's other works is pretty genius as well.

From a commander perspective, the set looks great as well. Bilbo, Birthday Celebrant and Sauron, the Dark Lord both look like a blast to build around.

I am excited to jam Last March of the Ents into my Zopandrel, Hunger Dominus deck as another Majestic Genesis type effect.

I don't see much of a modern impact here besides maybe the legendary land cycle, but then again, I don't play too much modern so I could be missing something.

ImNora on Cards Like Grand Cenobite?

Hi,

I'm building a The Prismatic Bridge  Flip deck to cheat out creatures. I'm trying to pack the deck with creatures that boost the power/toughness of my other creatures. I've found things like Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite, Pathbreaker Ibex, Blossoming Bogbeast, Kamahl, Heart of Krosa, Zopandrel, Hunger Dominus, Thunderfoot Baloth, Gisela, Blade of Goldnight, Fiendish Duo, Angrath's Marauders and Necropolis Regent. I also have Blade Historian and Blast-Furnace Hellkite for double strike since it effectively boosts power.

What cards can you think of that I missed?

Thanks, Nora

Gidgetimer on priority of activated abilities

Whenever a spell or ability is put on the stack it waits until all players have passed priority in succession to resolve. If someone else puts another object on the stack in response, the last thing added resolves first. Zopandrel, Hunger Dominus will be destroyed and then its ability will not have a place to put an indestructible counter and will do nothing in your example.

Hi there, for example: when Atla Palani, Nest Tender enters the battlefield (and has haste from somewhere) you can use her ability. Even if someone removes her in responce of the activated ability the egg will still be made because the ability was on the stack.

So when thats the case then if Zopandrel, Hunger Dominus hits the field and you use the ability, you pay the price of 4 life and sac 2 creatures. Then the ability is on stack. If a opponent reacts to this activated ability and destroys Zopandrel then the activated ability will place no indestructable counters because Zopandrel is no longer there. Or will Zopandrel get the counter before the spell that was meant to destroy her sesolve?

The fact that Ancient Imperiosaur can be a free 20/20 is kind of hilarious to me. Pairing it with something like Xenagos, God of Revels or Zopandrel, Hunger Dominus to one shot a player for 40 life seems like a fun achievement to attempt.

City on Fire looks like a strictly better Fiery Emancipation in most decks.

Sheoldred is a house. Not sure if she is better than Rise of the Dark Realms but she is a supercharged The Eldest Reborn which does see a fair amount of commander play.

Into the Fire looks a like a new red staple and Pile On looks like a new black staple.

I know that they probably no longer have the license for it, but the fact the Kogla and Yidaro didn't get Godzilla alternate art of King Kong and Godzilla is criminal in my opinion.

I do find it a little odd that the pre-con commanders clash with the main set somewhat. Like some of the interesting convoke cards and phyrexians/incubate cards can't be played in their respective pre-cons. It's not a huge deal, but not being able to play Pile On and Hoarding Broodlord in the Jeskai convoke deck or Glissa, Herald of Predation in the Orzhov Phyrexian/Incubate deck bothers me a little.

Hi fellow Teddy G commander! I like your deck a lot. This is mine. When the new Phyrexian set came out, I decided to add Zopandrel, Hunger Dominus. I can see it working in your deck too. Your thoughts? I'm also curious on your thoughts about Ulvenwald Tracker as an interaction option.
