Gonti's Aether Heart Discussion

DEDmaster on U/R: Thopter Production

Im with joshuaizac you need to combo. well you dont need the whole combo for the production. but you should drop some cards and add somethings that will let you have the energy production. if you have nine energy two Decoction Module1 Mechanized Production and one Whirler Virtuoso you win turn five. Or maybe some Gonti's Aether Heart like two or even just one so you get that play once in a while. but build energy all game. then by turn 6 if you have 9 thopters and and 8 energy. you could win by just swinging away twice. or that last bit is all you need. I dont know.

the things I would take out is Experimental Aviator if you havent drop the production by turn four then you are not going to have the alternative win. And by turn 5 you should have bigger plays then a five drop popper.

and Ravenous Intruder if you are trying to win with thopter production then you should not be sacking them out to a two drop. Its a good idea. but if you do that then later when your one short you will be saying "only if i didnt sack those 3 earlier, I would have already won." so just to avoid that inner monolog just take that out and replace it with a more effective, goal driving cards.

As it stands now you don't have infinite thopters because you cant produce enough energy each time you make one to reliable make another. Adding something like Gonti's Aether Heart where you will get more energy per thopter helps you go infinite. I would take out one inventors fair and the built to smashes for 2 hearts and 2 more lands and yu should see the consistency go up.

Wino - thanks for the input but i disagree on a number of counts. The primary purpose of this deck is to create win conditions from combinations of cards such as Crackdown Construct and Wandering Fumarole. As such, running 3 copies of Gonti's Aether Heart and Crackdown Construct are vital to the deck's success. I have sideboarded counterspells, so thanks! Murphy77 - thanks for the advice, I agree with the Panharmonicons being better suited. Instead of running Inspiring Statuary I chose to go with Reckless Fireweaver - let me know what you think, but I believe it will fit in perfectly both on the curve and in the synergy.

Hi! For me you have few removal spell.. only 3 Harnessed Lightning.. so probably I will drop some creatures and put some Negate or Metallic Rebuke in mainboard. Also I think that 3 copies of Gonti's Aether Heart is too much (drop one of them): it's a slow card that needs much energy. For example you don't need Chief of the Foundry in 4 copies because you can replace it with 2 Bastion Inventor that is a 4/4 hexproof with improvise! I probably drop also one Pia Nalaar in favor of the Inventor. Also I don't like so much Crackdown Construct I will replace it with some counter-spell.Consider also Shock at least in sideboard!

I like the idea that Mechanized Production can make copies of your Gonti's Aether Heart then win the game if you have 8 Thopters.

I'd side some Aethertorch Renegades just for a little extra boost of damage or energy if you need it. Sage of Shaila's Claim is also a good early game energy generator. Gonti's Aether Heart wouldn't really benefit the deck that much but it would still make energy when you play the Scrapheaps, and it would give you another artifact for Unlicensed Disintegration. Plus you could pop it for another turn. Decoction Module is decent with the elephant too, as it lets you keep it on field. Then again you'd probably already have enough energy to keep it out.

DuTogira on Is Colorless worth it?

Hmmm... if you aren't a huge fan of consistency tutors, colorless decks do have the option to just go goodstuff. Cards like Duplicant, Wurmcoil Engine, Steel Hellkite, Oblivion Stone, and the like can make for interactive board presence. Combine those with artifacts that have strong effects like Gonti's Aether Heart, Planar Bridge, and Aetherworks Marvel, and you can make a very rampy, interactive midrange deck not unlike playing a (less consistent) Jund deck.
