Betrothed of Fire Discussion

Have you considered Bravado and/or Betrothed of Fire? Could work very well as additional power boosts for your commander in addition to his ability. Beyond that, I can't recommend Rancor highly enough ;) have you considered Black Market for the mana ramp here?

Does the deck even need black? could be red - green no? Betrothed of Fire covers sac outlet well, just toss it on the Ivy Lane Denizen, and it's also a wincon, and can be hit by Commune with the Gods. Could splash in white for Heliod's Pilgrim as an additional way to tutor Betrothed of Fire (it's erratered as an aura like all enchant creatures). Fanatical Devotion is cool too.

a few goodies for this guy

  1. Betrothed of Fire - OHKO :)

  2. Bravado - half bonus of betrothed, but you get to keep them

  3. Sundial of the Infinite - keep your token beyond your end step (activate with end step exile trigger on stack). though i don't think this is that great of a bonus. I would rather just sac them to something like Ashnod's Altar or Altar of Dementia

Absolutely. If you tap a Mountain for one , you then pay that and sacrifice the tapped mountain to cast Shard Volley.

The only exception to this would be if the card specifically stated that you have to sacrifice an untapped land, such as in the case of Soldevi Excavations or Balduvian Trading Post.

If you are going specifically for green tokens, then I would suggest Hornet Queen and Ant Queen. The former can be easily abused with white flicker effects, while the latter can jump birth an army in an instant depending on your mana; Both of them are extremely scary if Purphoros, God of the Forge is in play, as most tokenmakers tend to be. Oh, there's also Verdant Force and Rhys the Redeemed (he is expensive though), as well as Verdeloth the Ancient who lords over saprolings.

And I haven't seen Craterhoof Behemoth in your deck. If you can afford it, it is a mighty addition to any creature based deck.

To make these changes or others like them, i would consider cutting some inefficient cards like Betrothed of Fire, Wild Beastmaster, Scute Mob etc... but to each his own, eh? ;)

You can also go down a couple of lands I think, and up a few ramp cards or effects like Mina and Denn, Wildborn, Azusa, Lost but Seeking and Oracle of Mul Daya (the last two are expensive cards as well).

BMHKain: Hey! Sorry, I've been moving into college and everything's chaotic. You nailed some of the best ones, but Ajani Goldmane buffs your team, Figure of Destiny self-buffs very impressively, Bravado and Betrothed of Fire are good enchantments to exploit large numbers of creatures, Anax and Cymede can pull some weight in heroic-focussed builds, etc. If you want to work with Odric, Lunarch Marshal, I would try to include many creatures that inherently have keywords rather than spells that grant them (because without Odric, the latter aren't very impressive). Hopefully that helps!

Also, Betrothed of Fire could really help as pretty much a Swarm Surge for one less mana. Plagued Rusalka could be reusable removal. And you could ramp up really fast with Ashnod's Altar. Finally, Thorn-Thrash Viashino could just kill the opponent really quickly by sacrificing, like, 8 or 9 spawns and next tuen attacking with trample for the win.

No data for this card yet.
