Finally Made a Big change
Trumeg, 7 years ago
I finally made some large changes to the deck. Just in time for more new cards I won't know how to choose from. The local meta I play in has a Daretti deck with several upgrades, a Wade into Battle precon with very little changes, and a UB discard/reanimator deck. Plus a few decks I haven't seen more than once. I need more artifact hate becuase my playgroup will not stop Daretti from ultimate. I also have problems picking cards to cut. I have a small stack of cards to add but choosing what to get rid of is hard. :(Hi_1m_R0b3rt, 7 years ago
Took out one island, Simic Growth Chamber, and nissa's pilgrimage for sensei's top and a few shuffle effects like Terramorphic and evolving Wilds.passmethattea, 7 years ago

IN --
- Key to the City ($0.50)
- Shriekmaw ($0.99)
- Forgotten Ancient ($0.33)
- Gratuitous Violence ($0.86)
- Dune-Brood Nephilim ($0.93)
- Duskwatch Recruiter ($1.03)
This totals $4.64 of additions. I had $10.31 coming into this week, so I will be carrying $5.67 into next week.
OUT --
- Stalking Vengeance
- Evolutionary Escalation
- Skullclamp
- Mycoloth
- Spirit of the Labyrinth
- Tana, the Bloodsower
Why am I adding a huge token producer (Dune-Brood Nephilim) and yet still getting rid of some token payoff cards (Skullclamp, Mycoloth)? The answer is that IMO, I still don't have enough token production in the deck to justify the payoff cards, even with Dune-Brood present. The slots are better spent elsewhere, I think.
We shall see, though. I may add them back in another update. For now, I'm happy with where this has gone. Let's see how it plays in Week 5!

It cycles for lands to prevent drawing into more landsRavenous Trap Buyout
swordrush, 7 years ago
Ravenous Trap has recently made some waves in sideboards of popular decks, driving its price up. Which is annoying. In an attempt to keep this deck as budget as I can, I'm switching it out for Crypt Incursion. I also considered Shred Memory, as both are excellent graveyard removal, but I didn't feel like the versatility of Shred Memory would match the possible life gain of Crypt Incursion. Maybe at some point Ravenous Trap will go back down in price and I can start including it again.Aether Revolt

This set has some fantastic cards! Dark Intimations for a miniature Cruel Ultimatum alongside additional value, will be even stronger if they end up releasing a new Bolas in the next set. Hope of Ghirapur could be hilarious, I will experiment with it... I could render my opponent unable to ever cast a spell. Any thoughts?Card Addition

Added Ratchet Bomb in sideboard to deal with Leyline of Sanctity or any other cards that prevent burn based decks from being effective.Doubling Yidris

Post Bans
2RRR_Mirror_Breaker, 7 years ago
With the bannings the Void Shatter seems less important and the Disallow seems better in that slot. I also had to change up the mana base a little bit because of the lands that I owned.Minor Tweaks v1
supportbot13, 7 years ago
-1 Talon Sliver -1 Sentinel Sliver +2 Muscle Sliver
More muscle
-1 Brainstorm +1 Distant Melody
Cost more mana and slower, but likely 2-4 more cards drawn
-2 Dawn Charm +2 Wrap in Vigor
MultiRegen for more combat effectiveness
-1 Echoing Truth +1 Oblivion Ring
For more permanent removal
-1 Island +1 forest To reflect deck changes
Also swapped Ravnica dual lands for Life Gain Dual Lands.
Not sure if fielding 1 of a card in a deck is even worth it as it is so unlikely to be drawn. Any opinions appreciated.
Ongoing Investigation/Mechanized Production
Pthance, 7 years ago
We have a new win condition that is much easier to pull off and stabilize with. Now Engulf the Shore doesn't wreck our board in the late, just keep bouncing everything and countering away to make more clues with Ongoing Investigation. End the game with Mechanized Production and protect it with your plethora of counters (including your new one that works well with clues with Metallic Rebuke).Chopping Block

Hey guys!
Thanks for all the love for this deck. I'm reasonably satisfied with this deck. Although it's a bit slower and generally lower power level than my other budget decks in this series, it's also so far the cheapest and doesn't sport an infinite combo (I strongly believe that there is absolutely nothing wrong with infinite combos in EDH, but I know I won't be able to convince either you or whoever makes your playgroup's rules, so it's important to accommodate that when making a list of decks for everyday players).
This deck, as expected, is an all-star in semi-casual metas and gets completely stomped in competitive metas. The interaction in this deck is very much tuned toward locking down your typical "75%" EDH group. I find that, even when this deck doesn't win, it's always interacting and always putting up a good fight. In a lot of ways, this is a very "fair" deck-- it's also one of the best budget iterations of a very fair deck you can build. Playing this deck actually made me more frustrated than normal at how little interaction people tend to put in their decks, as a lot of the games I lost at semi-casual groups were games where I was the only one trying to stop someone with the clearly most powerful deck at the table...
So onto the main reason I'm writing this update: because of the increasing popularity of the Frontier format, Dig Through Time became way more expensive. I find this incredibly unfortunate, as Dig was one of the best budget blue cards in EDH and now it appears to no longer be something I can put in my budget deck lists-- it's good, but not 5%-of-your-budget good.
I'm going to find a replacement for Dig. I think it might be Monastery Siege, which offers two really good modes for this deck although the looting mode is usually best. This deck needs a strong suite of card filtering to work properly, and looting is perfectly fine as it often works similarly to draw (just discard an enchantment you weren't gonna cast).
