I would honestly say that Marchesa, the Black Rose is a misunderstood commander. The majority of people claim that it is an aggro card, but it is much stronger when used as a control card.

This deck beat many different decks, via attrition and reanimation. The fact that creatures who have +1 +1 counters on them can't die makes this deck great against control decks with board clears, and aggro decks with minions to block.

There are different key cards in this deck. A notable inclusion is Damnation. Marchesa is not regenerating the creatures, so the card text does not matter. This card will remove your opponent's creatures while allowing yours to return quickly. An important ruling regarding Marchesa, the Black Rose is that since she can be directed to the graveyard as opposed to the command zone, she can reanimate herself.

The cards that I think work best with Marchesa's ability are: Attrition,Damnation/Crux of Fate,Slave of Bolas,Unspeakable Symbol, and Butcher of Malakir,

I include Pongify simply to deal with Animar, Soul of Elements, a commander that defeats this deck due to its protection from black.
