Mono black devotion discard deck featuring Waste Not. Fate Reforged just brought us Dark Deal so I thought it's time to revisit the list. Plus I know with Monastery Mentor coming Jeskai Ascendancy is going to become popular. We are well positioned against Ascendancy decks because Waste Not stops them from looting and makes them draw their threats naturally. Plus we bring in Fate Unraveler post board and make them pay for their card draw. Now we have Dark Deal to make our opponents dump their hand to trigger Waste Not. Plus Thoughtseize to pick apart their hand. I'd like to fit Diplomacy of the Wastes somewhere to wreck their hand even more but I couldn't figure out where to fit it and to much discard turns into a lot of dead top decks late game. Our creature base is a good black devotion shell. We have Herald of Torment for are early game threat in the air that we can bestow onto one of our bigger dudes late game. Squelching Leeches is our workhorse. They hold the ground down with a large body that just keeps getting bigger. We have a single copy of Doomwake Giant to combat tokens and smaller creatures. With two more copies in the board to bring in when we need them. The we have our main man Gray Merchant of Asphodel. We all know and love/hate Gary. To help fuel devotion and also discard we have Liliana Vess. Plus she can tutor for what we need. Whip of Erebos both adds devotion and makes our opponent's have to think about killing anything since we can whip it back. Then we have our biggest threat Abhorrent Overlord. Using Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx we should be able to cast our big demon no problem and hopefully with enough devotion to bring an army of flying tokens. Our board has some spicy options. Brain Maggot for further disruption. Agent of Erebos to deal with graveyard based decks. Erebos, God of the Dead to deal with life gain. Fate Unraveler to bring in against anyone who wants to draw a lot of cards. Then two extra copies of Doomwake Giant and some Drown in Sorrow for aggro and token based strategies. Well this is a rough draft. Still trying to figure out numbers of each thing and what to include.
