Supporting Mycosynth Lattice and Stony Silence
Deck Help forum

I read that using these two cards means that players can't tap lands (or anything else) for mana. I think thats just crazy enough to try building a deck around, but then I'm stuck trying to figure out how to still be able to play cards. Would Blinkmoth Urn still be able to give me mana and can anyone suggest any other cards that can either give mana or let me play cards?

Thanks for the suggestions. I think I can give the Urn phasing or something like that to stop the opponent from getting the mana and I am thinking about using some zero cost artifacts to try flooding the board after wiping the opponent's side with some of the combos you suggested.
I wonder, would shroud or some similar ability make a card immune to Stony Silence?

I just had another idea:Mirror Gallery + Eye of Ugin + Semblance Anvil
Basically, I just need to ramp up a bit and get a few of these cards out (maybe throw in a Prototype Portal or similar for good measure), then I can drop Eldrazi as without paying mana costs and I can even have more than one of each titan out at once. Then I just need some tutoring to get those artifacts. The opponent might be completely unable to counter this if they fail to remove Mycosynth Lattice before Stony Silence drops or fail to counter Stony Silence.
If I can't find a way to tap Blinkmoth Urn, then I'll make sure that there are some opponent only board wipes to stop them from benefiting.
Here is a link to the deck in progress:

Shroud and Hexproof only stop it from being targeted, not global effects.
Icy Manipulator and Vedalken Certarch both tap down the urn.

Imo the deck should be a uw trombone variant. Run counters spells like Remand and Condescend, draw spells like Thirst for Knowledge and Sphinx's Revelation tutors like Treasure Mage, and board clears like Supreme Verdict.

I guess this is only half a rules question so it survives here.
Now I'm actually curious though. Epochalyptik - Does this actually work?

You could play that combo with Darksteel Reactor. All you have to do is get out like a Ghostly Prison or a Propaganda with mycosynth and silence and reactor. The rest of the deck would be tutors and/or alternate win cons

TMBRLZ - It works, but creatures would still be able to attack. It'd be the same as if you had a Stony Silence in play against Affinity. They can't sacrifice artifacts to their Arcbound Ravager but they can still attack with it.

you could also splash red for Vandalblast to keep them off anything

also, Icy Manipulator and the Vedalken Certarch don't work as those are both activated abilities, and with a Mycosynth Lattice, they are both activated abilities of artifacts, which brings in the problem of Stony Silence stopping them.

Teferi's Realm Reality Ripple and Vision Charm could all work well if you want to phase your urn

Sorry I didn't mention this before, but this is a modern deck. Yes, I am thinking about splashing red since Braid of Fire would still produce mana and Vandalblast could wipe out the opponent's entire field, making the issue of tapping Blinkmoth Urn moot.
Does anyone know if shroud or a similar ability (maybe a card with a specific ability rather than a named ability) could mitigate Stony Silence and/or Mycosynth Lattice? If so, and if I didn't mind making it Legacy instead of Modern, then Vanishing might be perfect with March of the Machines for stopping the opponent from getting mana from Blinkmoth Nexus without needing to splash red.

My main complain with the other phasing cards suggested is that they're all instants, so I need to be able to cast one every turn. Maybe one of the U or UR cards that let me reuse the instants and sorcery cards would get around the problem well enough.

With Braid of Fire it is important to remember that you only get the mana for your upkeep.

With one of the cards that grant flash, that might be very useful.

You could run Hurkyl's Recall + Isochron Scepter, once you have Mycosynth Lattice out you just recall everything they play every turn. If you paid that with Blinkmoth Urn then you get tons of mana and they get none.

The hardest part would be getting Mycosynth Lattice on the battlefield in a reasonable time frame

I know that Blinkmoth Urn will still give you the mana, and Mycosynth Lattice takes care of having to pay for colored mana, so you are good to go there. I would add something like Hurkyl's Recall as well, because then you get to just ruin their day. my personal favorite is to add March of the Machines so that nobody gets any lands. the only problem there is that your opponents also get mana off Blinkmoth Urn, so you have to figure out a way to tap the urn every turn without using an activated ability of a permanent. personally, I would go with the March of the Machines combo over the Stony Silence combo. maybe just run the silence sideboard? doing this allows you to run something like Master of Etherium and then it is just a permanent Armageddon to everyone else, because lands have cmc 0, they all become 0/0 creatures, except yours are buffed, and they stay like that. forever. or, at least until your opponent loses. this puts you in a nice U/W deck with plenty of options. a win con I would suggest is to make all of your stuff unblockable or something (you are in U/W, I'm sure there is a way) and then swing in with all except 4 lands. Then, after they declare no attacks, Mirrorweave targeting Master of Etherium to get serious damage in. like, SERIOUS damage. with 9 permanents total, that puts you up to a whopping 85 damage in one swing, and thats only if 5 of them swing, keeping the 4 lands up for the Mirrorweave.
