This is my first attempt at a graveyard cycling deck and is inspired by tophat118's Lich Lord's Minions v2. The central theme is to use Havengul Lich in conjunction with Heartless Summoning to achieve a number of effects.
As with the original deck, in this one the early game is focused on discard effects such as Duress,
Black Cat
, and
Ravenous Rats
. Instead of fatties, however, I am opting for a combination of ltoken generators such as Bloodline Keeper
and Gutter Grime (which should get huge quickly from lich cycling) and direct damage effects from Shrieking Affliction, Falkenrath Noble, and Blood Artist. Hopefully these changes to more diverse and generally lower CMC cards should make the deck less dependent on Heartless Summoning not getting nuked.
The rest of the deck is focused on control and deck manipulation, particularly on
Index
ing and preventing enchantment hate with Deathrite Shaman as the all purpose garbageman.
As always, any suggestions for improvement are appreciated
Random Thoughts:My current worries are that the deck may not be focused enough with the main combos coming online too slowly to be competitive. Also, some of the cards currently in the mainboard (Jace, for instance) may not do enough to advance the win even though some of the effects are useful.
Burn decks and control will be the worst of the lot. If the deck is working properly there will not be much extra mana available on any turn for serious counters and so additional hexproof may have to be baked in.
I am a little worried that Gutter Grime will be too easy to shut down. Skirsdag High Priest is one option with much lower casting at the price of slower momentum (armies of the tapped, one token/turn)
