Junk control deck idea. (Maybe it is mid-range? I can never tell when it bleeds from one into the other....oh well....I'm rambling.....)
Card reasoning:
<><><> Archangel of Thune <><><>
Large flier, pumps other creatures, gains life, has a high CMC to avoid Gaze of Granite
<><><> Blind Obedience <><><>
Slows down opponents creatures and artifacts as well as giving you an extort option
<><><> Bow of Nylea <><><>
More like Boinggg of Nylea. Can permanently pump creatures, kill small fliers, gain life and gives your attackers deathtouch
<><><> Darksteel Ingot <><><>
Mana fixing and ramp, plus it is indestructible
<><><> Fiendslayer Paladin <><><>
Life link first striker, and avoids most of the targeted removal in the format
<><><> Fleecemane Lion <><><>
Great two-drop and becomes a real problem when he goes monstrous (indestructible is huge when combined with Gaze of Granite)
<><><> Gaze of Granite <><><>
Great controlled board wipe. Can remove low CMC creatures (good against aggro or devotion decks). Combos well with indestructible cards and Golgari Charm (regeneration)
<><><> Loxodon Smiter <><><>
4/4 for three and it can't be countered or discarded
<><><> Martial Law <><><>
Locks down annoying cards (Thassa, AEtherling, etc)
<><><> Merciless Eviction <><><>
Another targeted board wipe, can remove Gods, Planeswalkers, D-Spheres, etc.
<><><> Putrefy <><><>
Great for killing most creatures and destroying artifacts
<><><> Read the Bones <><><>
Card draw and filtering
<><><> Reaper of the Wilds <><><>
4/5 for four, with the possibility to be hexproof and have deathtouch. Also, scrying when creatures die is great for filtering.
<><><> Seek the Horizon <><><>
Mana fixing by finding any missing lands, also thins the deck
<><><> Sylvan Caryatid <><><>
Great blocker, hexproof makes it even more annoying, plus it is mana fixing and mana ramp.
<><><> Temple of Silence <><><>
Scry lands are great for more filtering and mana fixing
<><><> Shocklands <><><>
More mana fixing
~~~~~~ Sideboard ~~~~~~
<><><> Blood Baron of Vizkopa <><><>
Side in against MBC, Orzhov aggro, Esper Control or White Weenie. Possibly side in for Fiendslayer against mono-blue.
<><><> Contaminated Ground <><><>
Side in against Nykthos, possibly against Mutavault, aggro or tri-color decks.
<><><> Selesnya Charm <><><>
Side in against Gods, Desecration Demon or RG Monstrous
<><><> Fiendslayer Paladin <><><>
Side in against MBC or RDW
<><><> Glare of Heresy <><><>
Side in to deal with white (Elspeth, Archangel, etc)
<><><> Lifebane Zombie <><><>
Side in to bring some hate to green and white
<><><> Planar Cleansing <><><>
Side in against decks that ramp into high CMC cards (RG Monstrous)
<><><> Toil/Trouble <><><>
Side in against Esper and UW Control to negate SphinxRev or other heavy card draw engines. Use Sylvan Caryatid to get the red mana
<><><> Mistcutter Hydra <><><>
Side in against anything with blue in it :P
So I will find out with more playtesting, but I am wondering if I should have 3 each of Gaze of Granite and Merciless Eviction instead of 2/4. In my initial playtests GoG seems to work better, with Merciless removing Gods, Planeswalkers and unruly board states.
Thoughts, help and feedback are all appreciated.
