Was gonna suggest(still do) to have Elspeth, Sun's Champion or Sun Titan in it but you dont seem to run any 6+drops.

Sagi007: Sun Titan is a very good idea; I'll have to find a place. What would you suggest cutting for him, though?

Cant realy say for sure but maybe Mana Geyser??? I never play EDH so but te card seems expensive for something of witch i cant tell how valueable it will be.

Reforge the Soul but no Wheel of Fortune? For budget reasons? Or something else?

April 18, 2016 5:32 p.m.

PlattBonnay: Budget reasons. I'd be playing both if I could. I own a Wheel of Fate, but I chose not to add it because it's too easy for opponents to play around. Do you think I should use it anyway?

Nah, Wheel of Fate doesnt seem worth it. Although I'm surprised you're not playing Armageddon and Cataclysm. Resolving one of those post-avacyn makes it real hard for some decks to recover.

PlattBonnay: I am extremely opposed to MLD on principle, so I've not included the land-destruction options. Also, Cataclysm wipes away my artifacts.

Tragic Arrogance is a decent substitute for Cataclysm if you don't want MLD. Also maybe Divine Reckoning?

Opinions on Stuffy Doll? Works similarly to the Boros Reckoner on top of being inherently indestructible. It can consistently soak up damage from combat, Avacyn, and any other board-wide damage dealers. Even if there's nothing else to do with it, you can tap it at the end of your opponent's turn to ping them.

Stuffy Doll is excellent for many reasons. He's also a good blocker. I tend to play aggro-ish decks so I don't use him much, is all.

acbooster: Stuffy Doll is awesome in the right kind of deck, but I'm not really a fan here. I don't think he does enough for 5 mana (too expensive for redirecting Avacyn's damage), everyone in my meta plays exile removal, and he's in the same slot as my commander. Thank you for the comment regardless, though! :)

Wow I love this deck it is awsome! Now I would try to throw in a Sword of Kaldra so that way they can't do grave return.

Daedalus19876 says... #13

Stanimal1821: Thank you! I'm glad you like my deck. Sword of Kaldra used to be in here, but the cost (8 to play/equip) was just too high to justify the exile-touch. Also, my things often survive Avacyn's boardwipes because they're indestructible, and Sword of Kaldra would negate that.

I have changed the deck a bit from its current state, however, so I'll adjust this decklist when I have a chance. Notably, I did take Sagi007's advice and I put in a Sun Titan to give myself recusion.

I would highly suggest Nahiri, the Harbinger. I have my own deck like this and I use her alt to find Stonehewer Giant and you can then get Sword of Kaldra(that I have in my deck) or any of your equipment and attach it to Avacyn for just 2 mana! And my deck is Evil Avacyn's Army if you would like to see my own twist on it.

Stanimal1821: Interesting. I had Nahiri the Harbinger in my first draft, but I cut her because I was underwhelmed. (Same with Stonehewer Giant, actually.)

Do you find that you manage to reach her ultimate often? I'm worried she would not survive the necessary three/four turns to pull it off.

I have Call the Gatewatch in my deck so I normally can get her really early and ult her before they can stop her, and I find her as a great draw and removal card.

Stanimal1821: if you achieve that often, you might consider Argentum Armor, so you can grab it with Stonehewer. It's even better than SoK in many situations!

I'd drop quest for pure flame (it seems like it takes a lot of work for a one time effect) and also spirit link (no amount of life gain can protect you from commander damage or an infinite combo). the academy rector/eldrazi conscription combo looks pretty strong to me though, I'd add that in

so I only have two comments:

  1. I don't see why you would have market value in a commander deck with as few creatures as you do

  2. I may be missing something but you do not have any angle creatures so that your commander can flip

Other than that looks good +1

linuk:

1) What is market value? As in, I know what "market value" means, but how does it relate to this deck? Do you mean to refer to High Market?

2) She flips when non-angel creatures die :)

Very well thought-out deck. However, to me, the balance seems a little off. In your description, you said that this deck is intended to switch off between aggro and voltron. Cool concept, and I can see it working really well, but I worry about your ability to aggro players down with this deck. It seems too light on creatures to effectively do that. Most of your creatures are designed to have utility, such as destroying artifacts or burning flyers or ramping, but I think you ought to have a few more that can help with the beatdown plan.

I would definitely add both Brave the Elements and Reverent Mantra to this deck. Most of your attacking creatures are white, so getting protection from most anything prevents players from blocking, allowing you to swing for a big lethal attack on the aggro side of things. For voltron, they're equally effective as well.

Fanatical Devotion seems underwhelming. I get that it allows you to sacrifice with precision and to keep all your creatures alive through an Avacyn flip, but I think it's subpar to the other options you already have and you don't want to be playing too many of these kinds of cards.

Did you take Boros Reckoner out of the list? If you put it back in, consider switching all of your basic lands to snow-covered basics and play Skred.

Some of the equipments in here seem underwhelming. Demonmail Hauberk, Hero's Blade, and Neglected Heirloom  Flip strike me as especially underwhelming. If more swords of x and y, Jitte, and Batterskull are too expensive, maybe try something like Darksteel Plate, Fireshrieker, or Champion's Helm?

I know you said that Nahiri, the Harbinger was underwhelming. What about Nahiri, the Lithomancer?

Reveillark seems like a great utility creature for this deck because when Avacyn flips, you get to rebuild that much faster. Something like Rally the Ancestors could be absurd too. You flip avacyn EOT their turn, small stuff dies, then on your turn you cast Rally to get back a pile of utility, since most of your small creatures can get a lot of value off in that 1 turn that they're alive. Not sure if you run enough creatures to get enough off of Rally, but I do think you should be running more creatures anyway.

Mana Geyser seems expensive and inconsistent, but maybe not.

To help the aggro plan, Tajic, Blade of the Legion, Iroas, God of Victory, Agrus Kos, Wojek Veteran, Knight of the White Orchid, Balefire Liege and Brimaz, King of Oreskos are all pretty aggressive and effective creatures.

I hope I was able to help given how long it took me to actually post this. Sorry again for the wait, but the deck looks super interesting. Good luck getting to be the top Avacyn deck on the site!
