Academy manufactor has quickly become one of my all time favorite cards. I'm not exaggerating when I say I want to make four different versions of this because no one deck can make full use of academy manufactor.

The main source of token generation is putting a cat in an oven, but the occasional crab and relevant recipe book is also quite useful.

Glaze fiend and reckless fireweaver are the main payoffs, though the value generated with contraband kingpin is also quite useful.

Glasspool mimic and goblin engineer are honorary academy manufactors.

Everything else just benefits from the absurd artifact count and helps fill out the deck.

if you are playing cookbooks then playing Ovalchase Daredevil is a must. As well as Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar. the daredevil makes your cookbooks give free food by tapping basically. and asmor is such a good value engine in a deck like this.

you could also play a single Raven's Crime so you always have a discard outlet even with it in the grave.

The issue with Asmor is that the only discard outlet in my deck is the card she searches for, so I can't cast her unless I've already got The Underworld Cookbook out. At that point, I'm not really sure what she's doing for me.

Ovalchase Daredevil would probably be worth it if it went straight to the battlefield rather than the hand, but I feel like four mana is too steep of a cost for a 4/2.

I'm not sure how Raven's Crime helps my deck plan I'm afraid. The only card that really benefits from being in the graveyard is Cauldron Familiar, and that's only because of it's synergy with Witch's Oven.

i was saying that these three cards work well together in a deck like this. they dont work well without each of the other ones. if you discard Ovalchase Daredevil with underworld cookbook then you immediately get it back to hand so free food to tap cookbook.

ravens crime was a secondary discard outlet to be able to get asmor out.

I see I see! In that case I'll definitely put Ovalchase Daredevil in the docket, that one definitely synergizes with the cookbook.

Still not sure about Asmor though. I'm not sure if I should designate card slots for her and for cards that support her when I could just put in cards that directly support my strategy.

Thanks for explaining the Ovalchase Daredevil combo! I can't believe I didn't see it!

Urza's Saga makes fat constructs that make use of all the artifacts you're spitting out with manufactor (always has bothered me that it's not manufacturer, tf is a manufactor??). And it fetches Oven if you have a cat, or Cookbook to make some more food. Of course if you run saga you could run some 1 of toolbox artifacts like Pithing Needle and Shadowspear (and Necrogen Spellbomb in the sideboard).

Urza, Lord High Artificer is similarly very strong in any manufactor deck with blue.

For cards to cut, I would probably cut Glaze Fiend. The card is cute, but all the X/X constructs can take over the beatstick slot so Glaze isn't as important anymore. Fireweaver burns the opponent, but doesn't really do much if manufactor is being removed. I would probably cut this as well if you need to make space.

Thought Monitor helps draw some cards and stuff.

A couple of those cards are really out of my price range, but you're definitely right, it would be a lot more powerful if I added those cards.

I'll definitely look into thought monitor though!

Sorry I noticed the budget tag after suggesting the $35 land and the $50 creature mb lol

Asmo does have some neat setups with artifact synergy - especially with engineer offering resurrection.

A big one I've worked with is Artificer's Intuition, while Riddlesmith can work it isn't where I like to take it.

Part of the reason I've found asmo a lot easier in budget brews is cycling lands - either Sojourner's Companion and artifact taplands or cycling derserts.

Blood Fountain has been surprisingly good in Atog style count artifact lists, and the discard is also there. Bomat Courier in more aggressive lists too.

And as always, a 1-of Trading Post is exceptionally good with food tokens.

I think this deck would perform very well with a set of The Underworld Cookbook and…. Uhh Asmoranomardicadaistinaculdacar

Geez that’s a weird name.

I completely forgot about the cook book! Ironic, considering the fact that I'm baking a cat.

I'm less sure about Asmor though, considering the only discard outlet currently in the deck is the same card she tutors for. Maybe if I added Quicksmith Genius? Though I'm not sure what she's doing for me by that point.

Thanks for your input!

You’re right about Asmo. I just really love his design for some reason. I forgot he’s more of a build around than something you can slot in anywhere. The cookbook is sweet here still though.
