Backstory: My playgroup and I decided to do a $20 deck challenge. I got a little sneak peak of what they are playing, and it’s aggro madness. I mean to say, they are playing Rakdos Discard. For those of you who don't know, they use Faithless Looting Thrill of Possibility and Cathartic Reunion to discard heavy hitting one-drops like Basking Rootwalla and Blazing Rootwalla with synergy cards like Anje's Ravager and Hollow One. I wanted to make a formidable deck without obvious silver bullets against discard/madness decks. What I came up with is a low-to-the-ground, evasive, tempo faerie deck.

It uses cheap counterspells like Force Spike to counter the pesky turn-one Faithless Looting. Also, I've chosen Spell Burst to counter any spells an opponent tries to cheat out for one a madness cost of one or zero. Betrayal is a fairly good card to discourage aggro early on or to get some card advantage as it's consequence. Elixir of Immortality shuffles our cards into our library again, and -lets face it- any non-aggro deck such as this one is going to ALWAYS be behind on life total. The ability to gain five life and get all our creatures and counterspells back from the graveyard is a great way to slow down a four-turn-win aggressive deck to a slow, grueling slug-fest with my faeries. I can use Quickling to bounce ETB utility faeries like Faerie Seer and our haymaker, Spellstutter Sprite. With all these flyers, I've added one copy of Favorable Winds to turn the power of say, four or five fae into eight or ten for an evasive, crushing blow. One copy of Brineborn Cutthroat gets extra value from spells cast on opponents turn, and Blustersquall can tap those pesky flyers for us to get in, or else it can halt a lethal attack from all opponent's creatures.

I am open to tweaking this deck, so long as it stays under $20.
