Modern* Combo Control UBRG

Sideboard

The goal here is to play a combo/control game with plentiful removal and interaction, then cast Indomitable Creativity for X=2 to get both Emrakul and Serra's Emissary. Serra's Emissary usually names Creature to stop Solitude blowouts, but hey you can name anything. Instant or Planeswalker would probably be the next two most likely card types to name. Either way it probably wins the game (especially if you cast it on your opponent's turn with Teferi) because you get two giant creatures that demand extremely specific answers.

Remember that you have powerful interaction and planeswalkers serving as threatening presences that will force your opponent to act. Handle the board and use Creativity at the right time to slam the door closed on the game.

Creativity target setups:

  • Grixis Death's Shadow: Emissary+Emrakul. If you have to Creativity for 1 and hit Emissary, name Instant. If you get both, name Creature. 15/15 > 13/13.
  • Hammer Time: Emissary+Emissary. Post board (at least at my LGS) they bring in Path, so you need to Creativity for 2 and name Creature+Instant.
  • 4C Elementals/Blink/Money Pile: Emissary+Emissary. Name Creature and Planeswalker to stop Solitude and T3feri.
  • Izzet Murktide: Emissary+Emrakul. Emissary names Instant or Creature depending on the game state.
  • Living End: Emissary+Emissary technically. Mostly it doesn't matter, if they can't combo and you can you'll win. If you're on the draw and Emissary is in your hand you might even skip your first land drop to discard it to hand size.
  • Heliod Company: Either Emrakul or Emissary+Emissary+Emrakul in this matchup if they have Path in the sideboard. Name Creature and Instant. If Emrakul attacks they probably lose so much board presence they can't win. Infinite life doesn't matter with Jace or using T3feri to bounce Emrakul to discard her so you don't deck.
