Thanks, ThatWeirdPerson I'm really glad you commented on the deck it brighten up my day! Because of the companion being somewhat consistent a budget version does become more viable. I made a private version that I used on MTGO with much less fetches and such and while it did work some games you sacrifice some speed and consistency. But I'll see if I can make some parts more budget friendly for in paper decks and make a seperate list. One of the difficulties is that some of the cards don't have many if any replacements that can work in the deck. For example Argent Mutation costs less than 5 mana therefore it messes up the deck's cascading. One thing I found when playing on mtgo is that it is beneficial to cut a lot of the lands that trigger on entry just for speed and simplicity sake.

Hey! I have already fallen in love with this deck. But I would rather not spend over 1.5K dollars on it. Could you maybe make a budget version using just Keruga and not all those expensive cards, and then budget replacements for those other expensive cards. I can think of Argent Mutation over Mycosynth Lattice already. Then again, you have already done an amazing job making this deck and this should be very low priority. Just a request from a lover of your deck.

You can reprint Argent Mutation into the set or make a similar card in R/G. Honestly, I didn’t even know this card existed. Or you can make a similar effect to One with the Stars but where the machines turn a creature into a metal statue or something.

Also, Faithless Looting should definitely be in here and Violent Eruption is pretty decent on theme removal.

I really like the idea here. Madness is super fun, and it's a way to use Dack without painting a target on yourself with Argent Mutation .

Dropping 2x Argent Mutation, and trying to pick between these options:

2x Sculpting Steel - Copy any permanent with the help of Coating.

2x Myr Landshaper - More opportunities for land destruction.

2x Spellskite - Great chump blocker, and can protect combo pieces or even me.

2x Bedlam Reveler - Little more end game insurance.

2x Isochron sceptar - Lots of copyable effects

2x (Counterspell/Draw/Control/Removal?)

Any thoughts?

After doing a bunch of playtests where I tried to Jeskai as well, I concluded that the deck is a lot more solid as predominantly Izzet, with a tiny splash of green just because Ancient Grudge is ridiculous.

Also decided on a transformative sideboard, and brought in the Saheeli Rai infinite mill and infinite damage combos. Normally decks pulling off this combo just shoehorn the Liquimetal Coating in and try to stall until they get their combo out. With mine I can actually use the Coating while I wait, and Argent Mutation can also get the combo started.

Going Izzet also allows me to drop a few lands and add Field of Ruin for even more land control.

I am very happy with how the deck is progressing, and hope to have it in a solid enough place soon to buy it and take it to FNM!

You can use Argent Mutation for the jankiness; turn an opponent's creature into an artifact, then force them to sac it. Liquimetal Coating does the same if you target a creature. But what if they can't be targeted? Glaring Spotlight and/or Arcane Lighthouse.

Faerie Artisans is a fun card.

Filigree Familiar, Junk Diver, and Workshop Assistant all get you an artifact from the grave when you sac them to Arcum's ability. Throw in Scrap Trawler to back them all up.

I blindsided my four opponents when playing my janky-Dagsson deck. I used Unwinding Clock with token generators (like Nuisance Engine), and I used creatures who drop in more artifacts (like Thopter Assembly and Myr Battlesphere), in order to tutor for fun combo pieces (Throne of Empires, Crown of Empires and Scepter of Empires) and the game-winning combo Stations (Summoning Station -> Grinding Station -> Salvaging Station -> Blasting Station).

Hi Sheld,

Thanks for taking a look and the tons of advice; appreciate it. On to feedback :)

Argent Mutation does fit the sub-theme nicely. It also fits the 'if-I-draw-you-get-hurt' theme. Definitely worth considering. This card may be the one to replace Tormenting Voice. Still need to get one though.

Callous Oppressor seems a bit iffy to me. First, I can only steal one creature with it, and only as long as I control Oppressor. Second, I need to put one of my opponents in control to decide what I may/may not steal. This often works counter-productive too.

Bribery is a fantastic card, but a bit pricey for me at the moment.

Considering that this deck already contains an ass-load of draw and scry cards, the cards within the list you mention (Faithless Looting, Ponder, etc.) don't seem all that necessary to me. They're great cards for sure, but not needed in this configuration.

The deck's second sac outlet (Ashnod's Altar was recently replaced with a ramp card, because if I can't keep a stolen creature, usually I manage to kill it off in some other way before anyone can get it back (rivals of the opponent I just stole something from, are often quite keen to help me out in this manner :)).

Actually, Cyclonic Rift and Mizzium Mortars are my boardwipes of choice in this deck, but I've never really needed them much to be honest. Besides, why kill/bounce everything if instead we can just steal the best bits?

Yes, Drift of Phantasms could tutor for Eye, but it's hardly necessary. I use the Niv + Eye/Curiosity combo only if I can't win in a more fun way. Adding a card only because it can specifically tutor for these ... ? Meh, I'd rather let someone else win. Good game :)

Thanks for your comments so far. I may not have used much of your advice, but you've made me think in detail about my deck!
