Archpriest of Iona

Creature — Human Cleric

Archpriest of Iona's power is equal to the number of creatures in your party. (Your party consists of up to four creatures, one Cleric, Rogue, Warrior and Wizard, each.)

At the beginning of combat on your turn, if you have a full party, target creature gets +1/+1 and gains flying until end of turn.

And, yes, this card gives you a combat on your opponents' turn. The way I have it set up is as follows:

Opponent is taking their turn.

You cast this spell (and it resolves).

Creatures you control get the buffs listed on the card.

Opponent goes to their next phase (whatever that phase may be).

Before they do, you (the caster of Aurelia's Judgement Call) move to combat. It is not your turn, so your Aethershield Artificer's and Archpriest of Iona's do not trigger, but they would trigger for the opponent whose turn it is. Cards like Akroma, Vision of Ixidor and Unnatural Growth would trigger for anyone who controlled them.

Combat would happen as normal, but only you can declare attackers.

When you end combat, play goes immediately to whatever phase your opponent tried to go to. Play resumes as normal.

At least, that is how I think it would work. I'm not entirely sure, maybe it would be easier to say that the opponent's turn is paused and you get a partial turn (making cards like Aethershield Artificer better for you, as well as making more sense with the card), your partial turn ends (despite having no end step), and then play resumes as normal.

Hello again Kelvin-escesare,

I understand that Maskwood Nexus isn't an amazing card in general, that's why I was suggesting you could try adding just one, but I feel like it's one of those cards that looks so janky that it's easy to overlook some useful interactions in can produce in some situations.

It would be a 4 mana drop do-nothing in many decks, but here if you have 4 or more creatures but are still missing the 4th party member, playing it would turn on your Archpriest of Iona or Squad Commander . The ability to create a changeling is expensive for sure, but if you end up empty handed you'd still be glad to have it. You could have just 2 creatures in play with nothing in hand, create a changeling on their end step, then another on your turn and you're back in business! It could be a great way to spend your mana at instant speed if you're holding back not to run into a board-wipe too.

I guess it would screw over Winota, Joiner of Forces , but at the same time it would make Realmwalker much better too.

In any case, it's defintely your call but I feel like having that lone copy of Maskwood Nexus in the deck could occasionally make the whole party experience much smoother.

Cheers.

Before worrying about sideboarding, I'd focus on getting the main down to 60 cards. The closer you are to the minimum deck size, the more likely it is you'll draw the best cards in your deck. In this case, it looks like you want to build a party deck with Haktos the Unscarred as one of the bombs. The first thing I'd do is identify which cards are actively working towards that end or are particularly efficient. If something doesn't fit those descriptions, cut it. If it does, try to acquire multiple copies of it. For example, Gore Swine isn't doing anything here that a party member couldn't do better, so I'd remove it. Compare that to Expedition Champion who has more stats for the same cost and actively synergizes with the warrior theme, so having 4 of him wouldn't be bad. You can apply that logic to the entire deck. Practiced Tacticsis better than Sandblast. Suspension Field is more cost effective than Skybind. And so on.

After thinning the deck to its strongest options, then I'd focus on upgrades. Seek out other decks with similar goals and see what they're running. You can then endeavor to purchase the best cards you see in such examples, budget permitting. I don't know much about Boros party, but a quick search revealed Archpriest of Iona, Grotag Bug-Catcher, Stonework Packbeast, Squad Commander, Journey to Oblivion, Kargan Intimidator, Luminarch Aspirant, Relic Axe, Goma Fada Vanguard, Robber of the Rich, Tazri, Beacon of Unity, Fissure Wizard, and Seasoned Hallowblade, and that's only looking at standard. Modern brings even more options, particularly for Boros warriors. Arashin Foremost, Boros Reckoner, Mardu Woe-Reaper, Alesha, Who Smiles at Death, Obsidian Battle-Axe, Grim Lavamancer, Jeering Instigator, Fire-Belly Changeling, Grand Abolisher, Mirror Entity, Bygone Bishop, and Selfless Spirit all come to mind.

@Moose-Storm First of all i wanted to say that i LOVE your deck, i've recently builded a deck with Tazri, Beacon of Unity at the lead but without Jegantha, the Wellspring and i'd love to hear your opinion on it: Tazri Dungeon Partners Deck

Now the question: doesn't the Archpriest of Iona and Weathered Wayfarer break the Jegantha's Companion requirements by having the same cmc type? Or i've misunderstood how the Jegantha requirements work?

Tajuru Paragon and Stonework Packbeast only count as one creature in your party. While technically you have a "full" party with one of them in play, you only have 1 creature in your part. For example if you play Archpriest of Iona turn 1 and Tajuru Paragon turn 2, your Archpriest is a 2/2 because you have 2 creatures in your party. Still a cool deck, but it can't rely on only Paragon and Packbeast for all of your party cards.
