Me and my friends always get into aguments about which of the these two creature types would win?

I personally think that eldrazi's would win.

what do you think?

slivers have much more utility and can answer to any eldrazi threat, even Emrakul, the Aeons Torn because there is a sliver that makes all slivers colorless. then just Necrotic Sliver everything or give them all shadow and youre good to go

This probably belongs in the general forum, as Q&A is typically reserved for rules questions.

That said, Slivers are potentially very fast and aggressive, whereas a pure Eldrazi deck is inherently somewhat slow, but most Sliver decks have to deal with a color balance that Eldrazi decks couldn't give a rip about. Honestly, this has the potential to be some kind of Cocatrice-based challenge for the site. I truly don't know which is the better build.

I say that eldrazi have the upper hand while slivers are usually more aggressive a single attack from emrakul says game to almost all deck and they also see play in legacy decks ranging from Show and Tell and Sneak Attack to the much less played Pattern of Rebirth and Defense of the Heart . and like xantm70 said eldrazi can run what ever colors they want and can easily be played from control decks so slivers wouldn't be able to get stable ground while eldrazi would be able to slow them down and eventually erase them from existence entirely.

I'm actually designing a set around the two creature types :) I am calling it Zendikar's Saviors.

It tells of a planeswalker named Markosoni who can create and lead Slivers similarly to the Sliver Queen. He seeks them out in hopes of ridding Zendikar of the Eldrazi.

In my honest opinion I'd say Slivers. The fact they fuel each other and get out of hand ridiculously fast only shows that by the time an Eldrazi or Eldrazi Titan can get out, you are either dead or about to be. You got Magma Sliver , Essence Sliver , Sliver Overlord , Sliver Legion , Sliver Queen , Gemhide Sliver for color fixing, Homing Sliver for searching, Horned Sliver gives trample, Talon Sliver for first strike. There are just so many ridiculous Slivers that it is hard to actually fight them.

I'd say that in game slivers would win, but in flavor eldrazi would

The eldrazi would win at least from a flavor perspective.

The slivers are a race that naturally don't seem to want to dominate the multiverse, they are just for the most part tools of great enemies that pop up in the story. In fact if they do pop up they'd likely be either slaves to Nico Bolas or the Eldrazi.

The Eldrazi on the other hand were sealed away and had to be trapped on Zendicar to be left as a huge problem to be eventually dealt with and if they are not dealt with they have the power to and the goal to dominate the multiverse (or destroy it...).

I have beat every single sliver deck I have ever played (6 as of yet with varying skills, cards, and money into the deck) with my eldrazi deck. Not of This World , Artisan of Kozilek , It That Betrays , and any turn 4 or 5 eldrazi seem to be my keys to victory. So IMO eldrazi win in both game and flavor. As cool as slivers are, you usually don't have more than 4-7 of them on the field on turn 4 or 5 and if you can play 1 on turn 4 or 5 and 1-2 eldrazi a turn after that, with Not of This World to protect them every now and then, and It That Betrays hitting the field eventually, slivers just can not compete. To be really mean I proxied in All Is Dust to compete with the opponent using proxies for some of the legendary slivers and I was able to use it with It That Betrays and that ended the game right there. It was rather silly.

there is also Hand of Emrakul that can usually be easily cheated out turn 2-3 and attack turn 3-4 when i was playing Brood Birthing .

using Mana Echoes with slivers is auto win early game before or by turn 4-5, with a Gemhide Sliver at some point in the early game followed by mana echoes slivers get into a huge one banging game ending army so early its scary. The slivers ran are usually Heart Sliver and Horned Sliver with Sliver Legion as well as Sliver Queen and Sliver Overlord both in one ofs plus some support slivers for whatever really, flying, first strike, trample. Slivers can accelerate almost as fast without mana echoes tbh too ive never seen such early games finished by eldrazi without a huge cheat like Sneak Attack . in flavour slivers would certainly win, they just swarm with no target and no end game, just keep on going. Forvever.

It partially depends on luck.Slivers with Mana Echoes and Sliver Queen early in game will win and the anihilator ability won't bother them (just a few tokens that'll go).

If this doesn't happen Eldrazis have a chance.

But mostly Slivers have the upper hand.

I've seen a sliver deck with highest mana cost of 2 and AEther Vial that killed on turn 3 without any problems.

slivers definitely. my brother has one and it goes something like this.

turn1: Plated Sliver

turn2: Gemhide Sliver swing for 1

turn3: Muscle Sliver /Sinew Sliver and Blade Sliver

turn4: 2 Muscle Sliver /Sinew Sliver swing for 21, lethal damage and game

It is definitely agreeable that both decks can be beat and both creature types have their strengths and weaknesses. When you look at Slivers and then Eldrazi, you gotta admit the Slivers were one of the most unique designs, esp when the Changelings came into the picture.

'You have Emrakul? Okay tap Amoeboid Changeling to turn it into a Sliver then tap 3 and steal with Sliver Overlord ."

This is very possible by turn 4-5, as I've done it :) (Not with Emrakul but had the board position to.) Slivers are such beastly creatures for the soul purpose that they get out fast and the more there are, the stronger they get. This is why I think they have the upper hand on the Eldrazi. Sure the Eldrazi can use any colors, but can they build a 5 color deck as functional as Slivers? I doubt it but it could be possible.

However, once the Eldrazi DO get out, it could very well mean the end of Slivers, as without Hibernation Sliver or Pulmonic Sliver , you begin to lose your creatures fast. The Annihilator ability at only 1 or 2 may seem bad. Get together a ton of creatures with that and then you got a problem. Throw in an Eldrazi Titan or two and that spells trouble. Make it Emrakul and you might as well scoop.

< hr>

TL;DR Each creature has an advantage and disadvantage. The difference is Slivers can work around their disadvantage a lot easier than Eldrazi

and slivers can technically win without any 'cheats' like mana echoes, whereas eldrazi in a standard deck of the time, what was the earliest you could get an eldrazi out? 5 or 6 maybe? i dont actually know, but if you make a sliver deck just using slivers by this time if you haven't lost you will do very soon! slivers vs eldrazi is a straight up match without silly Sneak Attack and other cheats, slivers win out right i reckon

November 27, 2012 10:05 a.m.

Turn 5 Emkraul using Overgrown Battlement . Still, even with Sneak Attack you have could have a turn 4 Sliver Overlord with Amoeboid Changeling , and then snatch it away before they can even attack.

I think Eldrazi would win hands down, but slivers have been a favorite for a long time. Tho i dont play with a full on eldrazi deck, mine uses the myr mana engine to drop spawnsire of ulamog, mirror gallery and turn 7, 6 legendary eldrazi drop [2 Ulamog,2 Emrakul,2 Kozilek] with all is dust. but even if that doesn't play out, mine produces enough tokens to defend against any sliver deck using 4 awakening zones and 4 parallel lives and 2 rites of flourishing to quicken the pace up, which drop pretty fast.
