Kitesail Apprentice —March 1, 2018

After lots of feedback and after some testing on my own. I have decided to add back Kitesail Apprentice back to the list instead of Kor Skyfisher. Skyfisher was a bigger body and helped with card draw but kitesail makes more sense.

Hi I am really interested in this deck. I love the style. Do you think there's a route for upgrades after buying this? If there is what do you recommend? Cards in the Maybeboard could be upgrades?

Hello SAiNTP4bLO, I am very pleased that you like my deck. And yes there is an upgrade path, I my self hope to upgrade it as time goes by and I have the money to do so. Some of the upgrades include: Cavern of Souls so your important creatures don't get countered, Basilisk Collar, Leonin Shikari, and fetch lands like Flooded Strand and Windswept Heath to cycle through your deck. Hope this can help!

Do you think there is a place for Elspeth, Knight-errant in this deck?

Hey I really love this deck it's simple yet effective :) what do you think of this replacing Swiftfoot Boots for Haunted Cloak? It costs one more but I think the hexproof is more a sideboard option. I see you say you only really play with friends so hexproof may help, but personally I think you could get more use out of vigilance and trample. Either way + from me :)

Hello Sgt_St0n3r, I am very glad that you like the deck. I originally had Swiftfoot Boots in my sideboard, but I found that I every game I played I put in Swiftfoot Boots game two. So i decided to mainboard it and it has been working very well. I have recently changed boots to Lightning Greaves.

hey SAiNTP4bLO, I think there could be a home for Elspeth, Knight-Errant in the deck, but it mainly depends on the meta. It does have the downside that it produces soldiers not kor... and the deck buffs kor. but that said the the +3/+3 and flying and ult are very nice.

Hey, maybe you should splash red and run Goblin Gaveleer, since that works with the whole equipment theme. Seems really synergistic to me. And if youre going boros, might as well toss in Weapons Trainer, right? I think this will really freshen this deck up a lot (lol). +1

Maybe try working with living weapons. Flayer Husk, Batterskull and Bonehoard they will up the creature count of your deck without downing the equipment numbers. More blockers, atackers and +1/+1 around the board since they enter the battlefield already equiped!!!

Sram, Senior Edificer for even more card draw instead of Kor Skyfisher?

I use Surestrike Trident in a similar build with Leonin Shikari & Puresteel Paladin. It closes out games from nowhere. Sigarda's Aid also mitigates the high equip cost as well.

I have been playtesting this deck and took out Basilisk Collar, putting in Stoneforge Masterwork in to make Armament Master more resilient, i have had better results than with the Collar. I feel as 4 Sigarda's Aid is too much as i have drawn multiple ones though with Puresteel Paladin they work hand in hand so down to personal preference. Also O-Naginata would be a welcome addition even as a one-of as you can get to 3 toughness easily but other than that it's a great deck. +1

How is it, that with 18 lands, when I play test it, that is all I get?

Maybe add some living weapon cards to be searched for with your equipment tutor?

I (also) run an Equipment deck. But, I run Boros for Goblin Gaveleer. Looking at your deck, I like it. I suggest a playset of Siguarda's Aid. In my experience, I've found that 15 creatures is too few of a number. I suggest 18-20. You might consider more cheap equipment like Silver-Inlaid Dagger or Trusty Machete. You might want the Dagger if you get Mirran Crusader. Prying Blade is also good for mana ramp with Kor Duelist. Overall, I see a problem with consistency as you have too many 1-ofs. But, I like the look of it. Take everything in this post with a grain of salt as you might have a better experience. Have Fun!

I love this deck, and plan on building one myself thanks to you. I'm not sure if this has been suggested yet, but what do you think of mainboarding Godsend? It seems oh so fun to play.

February 21, 2018 2:40 p.m.

I wouldn't suggest Godsend. I find it too slow and the exile doesn't really matter.

During the first couple of builds of this deck I ran Godsend but it was indeed too slow with little upside.

Acmegamewerks good to know. Also, I noticed you took out kitesail apprentice for kor dualist. Was kitesail not doing the job?

Kitesail was awesome! And I still want to test around with it. But it was also just a little too slow. Duelist is just so much faster at dealing damage early game. But I want to put kitesail back in just havent found a home yet. :)

What does Kor Skyfisher do for the deck? I get that its fodder for Puresteel, but I think that it slows down the deck. In my equipment deck, I run Adorned Pouncer. The double strike doubles the power of equipments, and the externalize is amazing late game. A 4/4 double striker is awesome.

so Kor Skyfisher does two very important things for this deck, the first being that it is a Kor so it gets buffed by Armament Master. And the second is that is can bounce an equipment so you can draw more cards, something that an ago deck really needs.
