Maybeboard

The Goal:

  • This is meant to be a fun and effective green ramp deck. Due to its relatively straightforward nature, it would also be pretty easy to upgrade or budgetize based on your needs.
  • The vision behind this deck is pretty simple: Get obscene amounts of mana to summon a squadron of massive creatures, and destroy your opponent with one massive alpha-swing between turns 4-7, but usually on turn 5 or 6.
  • While this deck is a tad bit too slow to be competitive in a modern duel, it tends to slaughter the table in a multiplayer game. As long as no one casts a board wipe, you should be able to get out of hand pretty quickly.
  • The Ramp:

  • Your main goal, when discussing ramp, is to tag on as many copies of Utopia Sprawl and Overgrowth onto one forest as possible. Use Arbor Elf and Voyaging Satyr to untap said forest, granting you the mana needed to cast the titans in your hand.
  • Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx definitely isn't a necessity, but it's pretty nice to have, especially when Voyaging Satyr is on the field.
  • Here's an example of what you can do on the draw:
  • Turn 1: Play a Forest and an Arbor Elf
  • Turn 2: Play another forest. Tap one forest, and attach Utopia Sprawl to the other, untapped forest. Tap the enchanted forest, putting a copy of Utopia Sprawl onto it and casting another Arbor Elf. Use your first Arbor Elf to re-use the enchanted forest to gain 3 mana. Cast Voyaging Satyr.
  • Turn 3: You can now tap and re-tap the enchanted forest 3 times, each of which will net you four mana. Cast Hydra Broodmaster and Terra Stomper .
  • Turn 4: Untap and re-tap the enchanted four times for a total of 12 mana, tap your final forest to make it 13 mana total. Attack, and monstrous Hydra Broodmaster , in which X=6, and deal 21 damage to your opponent.
  • The Army:

    1. Wolfir Silverheart: Presenting a combined total of 12 power and toughness for only 5 mana, Wolfir Silverheart is packing the largest bang for your buck. Ideally, you'll be soul bonding it with either Vorapede or Terra Stomper . That said, taking advantage of the haste on Mistcutter Hydra is never a bad idea; no one expects a sneak attack from the green deck.
    2. Vorapede: Vigilance and trample are both pretty sweet, however, what makes this card truly amazing is undying. Not only do your opponents have to kill this sexy beast twice, but Vorapede comes back boasting a bigger body, with the added bonus of shedding any copies of Pacifism that your opponent may tack on him. Against any sort of creature-based deck, Vorapede is king.
    3. Hydra Broodmaster : The 7/7 body for 6 mana is actually the underwhelming aspect of this card. When I activate its monstrosity, I usually have enough firepower to take down several other players.
    4. Terra Stomper : He's big, uncountable, and has trample. What more could you want? Terra Stomper dominates the board, especially when considering that it t
    5. Leatherback Baloth : A 4/5 for 3 mana and increases your devotion by 3. 'Nuff said.

    The Support:

  • Hunter's Prowess : Who needs Genesis Wave when you can just hit your opponent for 11 and draw that many cards?
  • Pimping It Out: Expensive But Awesome

  • Take out two copies of Witchstalker for Thrun, the Last Troll: Witchstalker is a decent pick against control decks, but Thrun really screws 'em over because he can't be countered and doesn't die to board wipes.
  • Take out Hunter's Prowess for Garruk, Caller of Beasts : Hunter's Prowess is pretty good, but it honestly just isn't reliable. Half of the time when I use it, my opponent either has a counter spell or a kill spell. Garruk is also a more permanent source of card draw.
  • Take out Wolfir Silverheart for Mistcutter Hydra: I'm going to be honest, I just want to throw this in because I really hate playing against control decks. Luckily, the Hydra should be able to end the game pretty quickly.
  • Dismember could be a viable card to put in the sideboard. Considering that burn decks can already royally kick my ass, I'm not comfortable running it in the main board. As an alternative, I'm also considering Pit Fight as a viable source of removal; in theory, my stuff should be the biggest on the field.
