On August 26, the year of our lord 2019, The Arisen Necropolis, the one that almost destroyed Modern, the one they called Hogaak, was finally beaten, slain, and banned; but with many, many, sacrifices along the way.

The multiverse was free of the underworld tyrant, and peace looked like returning to all the planes in the shard. Unfortunately, this peace would not last long, as one of the next eventful events would happen in a world of faerietales called Eldraine.

Urza, who should be dead now (but this is Modern), was here, on rumours of very powerful aftifacts to record, ones that seem foreign to him, like they had colours. He had lost something, don't know what, then a lady come from the lake with the artifact he had dropped. Her name was Emry, a strange native of this world. Urza was more into constructs he created himself, but they decided to go out on a date, under the lanterns and the moonlight. Nobody knew it at the time, but hopelessness and despair had just returned.

With the amount of artifacts we can play on turn 1, it is possible to play Emry turn 1. Urza makes every artifact tap for blue. With how fast we can empty our hand, Ensnaring Bridge effectively cancels any combat phase. Ghoulcaller's Bell enables a mill game, and Codex shredder makes sure they mill out before we do. Lantern of Insight let's us look at our opponent's top card. Jace the Mind Scultor can do it all by himself. Our hand may be empty, but we can still cast spells from the graveyard with Emry's tap ability, and from the top of our library with mystic forge. Don't like what's at the top? We can mill ourselves with code shredder, and ghoul caller's bell. We may even exile it with Mystic Forge, preferably if the top card isn't an artifact. Sure it may cost 1 life, but Inventor's Fair lifegain cancels it out.

How do you beat this deck? Leyline of the Void was the weapon used to bring down the beast, and unfortunately, it looks like the war weary spell will have to be used to break up this toxic relationship. There are other spells that we can use, it's just that this one was used at the start of the victorious battle. Hogaak didn't have an effective answer, and this partnership has even less so.

The only thing preventing Lanturzemry (Lantern Urza Emry) from becoming a Tier 0 deck is that Seat of the Synod is banned.
