Dragons is my favorite block, mostly because I happened to get into Magic about the time it came out, but also because who tf doesn't love dragons?

Fun Fact: Hitler is the only correct answer to that question. /funfact

While our big scary dragons are big, and scary, our main threat is Remorseless Punishment because, why not? Our old enemy Ob Nixilis Reignited is in the deck so it fits.

The idea behind this is to have their cards out of hand already due to Duress and Transgress the Mind and to burn out/force sac everything that hits their side of the field with Fiery Temper, Fiery Impulse/Foul-Tongue Invocation. Then force them to take 10 to the chin.

Also Languish is included in the removal because mass murder is a girl's best friend if that girl is named Kolaghan. Which it is her name, so Languish is like, duh.

The Thunderbreak Regents are just because I have a playset. I'm not 100% but I think Avaricious Dragon as a 2-of might be better. I like the card draw. But at the same time I don't have straight up burn spells to dome them with. So... idk. Food for thought.

Sideboard consists of more murder cards and some extra burn. Also sweepers and Virulent Plague because token decks run rampant in standard right now.

So this weekend I set off to give Dragonlord Kolaghan a nice sendoff since I had been pretty successful in sending off Dragonlord Ojutai in

Hunger Games: Mocker-yng Jay.

and being strapped for cash I decided upon making Remorseless Punishment the deck's main threat/win-con. It kinda works, but it's really underwhelming. I just have the feeling it's not going to perform all that well at FNM.

Pros:

-The deck murders things very well. Very, very well.

-The hand disruption works great.

-Remorseless Punishment works a lot better against control than I thought it would. The 2 pros make that happen. So in essence it sticks to its gameplan pretty well.

Cons:

-Remorseless Punishment while being a pro, is also a con because isn't the greatest threat lol.

-Against aggro, we aren't as bad as I thought we'd be but I suspect my opponent misplayed a lot. So this is kind of undecided, but I expect it to be a con.

-I spent so much time worrying about Languish and Grasp of Darkness I totally forgot about the more popular Lightning Axe. Kolaghan gets killed by that. Lightning Axe is in a lot of decks right now at my LGS.

So, in conclusion.

This deck is probably not going to fare as well in FNM as Ojutai and his Mirror Mockery shenanigans, but I hope it's a good time. Our gameplan is simple, so lets hope its enough to do well lol. Next update will be FNM results! (If I can pick up another copy of Kolaghan before Friday evening anyways)
