My favourite guild. I'm not really a standard player, more modern, but my LGS hosts a large charity event for standard. They were holding a modern qualifier for "vip" slots and I won, so I'm building standard for the charity event.
-Removal Package-
Lightning strike: typical red removal spell, hits most creatures.
Lava Coil: sorcery speed 4 damage exile effect which is relevant for reanimation decks as well as 4 toughness creatures such as Shalai.
Beacon Bolt: early game removal turns into late game delete that creature. My mainboard answer to big creatures.
Blink of an Eye: my non-creature removal for planeswalkers as well as enchantments, also works for delaying creatures. Most value when kicked as it functions as draw as well.
Fiery Cannonade: with Sweltering Suns rotating with Hour of Devastation, this is the only in-guild sweeper for the Izzet League.
-Countermagic Package-
Ionize, absolutely nuts. Izzet loves the counter shock. Brings their life down as well has hard counters.
Essence Scatter, typical counter spell for creature heavy decks.
Negate: Non-creature counter. Here for discard, high costed spells and others.
Syncopate: Tempo counterspell or just an on curve counter.
-Card Advantage-
Ral: Grixis's poor mans Teferi. Good filtering, great removal, and a game winning ult if it get to that.
Chemister's Insight: Replaces Glimmer of Genius, and the jumpstart makes it possible draw 4 ditch 1 with one copy.
Opt: Early game filtering/draws.
Search for Azcanta: Do I really need to explain? Surviel 3 sets before it was an actual mechanic as well as card advantage on the flipside as well as another land.
Murmuring Mystic: I'll add to the card advantage package cause its standard's young pyromancer played in the mid game. Great blocker and the 1/1 flying birds are a great finisher.
Expansion: Useful fork spell that lets me double Fiery Cannonade for 4 damage sweeper at instant speed or utilize my opponents spells.
Explosion: Izzet's version of Sphinx's Revelation, save instead of healing you deal damage at one more mana before the X cost.
Mission Briefing: Standard 'snapcaster' with filtering.
-Sideboard-
Primarily geared towards the control mirror as well as graveyard matters decks. Fight with Fire is a good 5 toughness removal spell with a late game finisher kicked with Expansion for 20 damage anywhere.
