Nissa the Explorer

Standard Combo GU (Simic)

torimino

Sideboard

UPDATE: I've taken the leap to standard league matches ("friendly," you play 5 matches and the competition is better than free games). So far my record is 3-2, 3-2, 4-1, 2-3, 4-1.

My record in my last 55 games on MTGO (tournament practice) with this deck is 45-7-3. So far, this is the best variation of this under-appreciated core deck. Seriously, why is nobody else playing this? It has a great matchup against against Sultai energy and a good matchup against mono red. It's almost impossible to lose to token decks. The addition of Nissa, Steward of Elements gives the deck the extra dig it needs to find the remaining combo pieces. Nissa's +0 ability also works really well with explore triggers. Most importantly, this deck is SO much fun!

See my full write-up here: http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/explore-beatdown-combo/

Again, if I can give you one tip for this deck, do NOT treat woodland walker as a 2-drop creature; it's a combo piece that you should guard carefully and only play when you can trigger explore several times in one turn.
