DRAFT - 1/18/18: B/G Aggro [RIX/RIX/XLN]

Hey everyone! Please feel free to leave comments and critiques in the comments here or on Reddit! Thanks!

DRAFT RECAP:

First picked a Forerunner of the Heralds to comfortably go either green or merfolk. Drafted 2nd pick a Jungleborn Pioneer, seeing little green or merfolk rest of draft. Moved into blue, and splash red for Temur Aggro. Noticed lots of good black floating around, considered moving into black. Had a Tetzimoc passed pack 2 pick 2, decided it was worth going all in black. Lots of good removal, had a Heartless Pillage 11th pick. Happy with draft, good bombs, in Tetzimoc, Primal Death, Colossal Dreadmaw and Arguel's Blood Fast  user: for card draw.

DECK BUILDING RECAP:

Had clear strategy from pool with B/G Aggro with 5 creatures with 5 mana or higher. Don't feel as though I made any blatantly bad choices except I dont know how I feel leaving out Sadistic Skymarcher and Marusoleum Harpy. Might have focused more on a "block, creatures dies" deck if I had used Pitiless Plunderer and Mausoleum Harpy.

GAMES RECAP:

Round 1: G/R Dino Aggro (1-2)

Got my face stomped in. Complete gas early game one for Cameron, was on the play game 2 and out valued him with removal spells and Wanted Scoundrels beats. Game 3 he drops both Burning Sun's Avatar and Etali, Primal Storm. Not much I could do, semi punt searching Jungleborn Pioneer with forerunner and having it cast of primal storm next turn.

Round 2: R/W Aggro (2-1)

Fast game 1 loss for me, not drawing answers for low mana Boros aggro. Game 2 decided to be on Play, beat face with Wanted Scoundrels again while Steven was starved of mana. Game 3 was tick for tac all the way, ended up drawing more removal for his creatures and he drew lands.

Round 3: U/B Pirates (0-2)

Flyers over my head. Kept risky hands both times with 4 & 5 lands. Tetzimoc punt by attempting to do his ability on opponents turn. Bryan flew over my stuff and used two of the 4 mana double black removal to kill my Colossal Dreadmaw and Overgrown Armasaur.

Overall, happy with how the night went for a free draft from a midnight prerelease at Magelings. Had decent removal and clear strategy, but lacked in synergy and didn't have good answers for go wide or trample. Kept some risky hands, but wasn't afraid to mulligan when necessary.
